isnt the only risk from getting that with garlic is if its stored in oil? friend told me that it doesnt have to be stored in oil to get it but ya idk...

I think the only way to get botulism from garlic is if it's stored improperly in olive oil.. The oil goes rancid w/ the garlic and you can get sick.. I've never heard of anyone getting it but, I don't want to be the one that gets it... good luck

Garlic can contain botulism spores, which occur naturally in soil. To grow, botulism spores require a completely anaerobic environment (no air), such as being immersed in oil or some other non-acidic fluid. It takes several days at room temperature before there is a risk.
