I know that logically people think that if they are the first company listed that others will call THEM because wow...it must be hard to force yourself to move your eyes down the list of other companies there. LOL

But what ACME...where did THAT name come from??

Bravo duby...it does kind of mean the "epitome" of something so I guess the appeal is that....but I'm surprised someone would call a burger joint Acme burgers or a hair salon Acme Hair Salon...it sounds dorky! LOL

And yes, beep beep! There was only one TRUE Acme business and it certainly didn't live up to it's name for poor old road runner! LOL

Acme basically means the highest point. It's also one of the first names you're going to find when you look in the Yellow pages. Most people dont know who they'll choose and if Acme is the first name they pick, that company will get a lot of business. It's a matter of business. Google Acme. There are a lot of companies that chose that name.

it comes from Warner Bros cartoons when the Coyote would always use Acme products to try to stop the Roadrunner
