Not only here, but in real life too. Even jewish people who DO NOT encourage converting to their religion, even they try to point you why their religion is the greatest.
What does one have to earn for doing this? (except for christians, cause their religion states they must spread the word)

they are selling their own religion to....themselves.
if they can convince someone else, it makes them think they might be right. thats comforting.
you must know deep down in your heart, that religious people (mostly) are VERY skeptical too...they are just way to superstitious to admit it. sounds like bad karma if you do! ;)

Money: More donations and richer religious institutions. Show me one well known religion which has a poor power centre.
Power: Strength of wrong people in numbers can silence the minority of right ones.
Domination: When you are more in numbers you can dominate the smaller ones.
And finally one dose not have to pay from one's own pocket for this kind of advertising.

I don't advertise my religion ; I live it ; if asked about it I comment; everyone has the gift to choose to believe or not; it is not my business how someone spends or squanders a gift; my business is my life to be accountable at the end of the road; people who have to beat you up with a bible are not following the essence of their religion; Jesus didn't have to beat anyone up in fact everyone goes to him willingly by free choice

For those other than Christians, I believe they do it just because they are excited! They have found a spiritual/religious path that really makes them happy and they want everyone else to know just how happy they are and try to pass that happiness on. There is no one spiritual/religion path (IMHO) that is 'right' for everyone... but I think that there is nothing wrong with it as long as they aren't shoving it down your throat!

Altruism?
Back when I was experimenting with different belief systems, I joined a couple of fundamentalist churches. They want you to believe that they convert out of concern for humankind, or because they think Jesus wants them to (most likely it's their pastors who want them to), but I found out quick it's more arrogance than altruism. Maybe noblesse oblige, but not altruism. That's one of the reasons I left them and came back to the Church.

Hi! I'm Gene H!!! I use only JC Penny for my clothing needs. You might ask why. Well look at this test. We asked christians and atheists which clothes they liked best. 3 out of 4 christians liked K-Mart. But 9 out of 10 atheists liked JC Penny. So, take it from me, Gene H, try JC Penny clothes. They fit all your secular needs!!!!

This is always true: Religion- Spirituality- God-consciousness is the most powerful driving force on this planet ! Yes, it can be for good or for evil. Thank our loving Creator Father of all humans, who are now each a beloved son or daughter in the Family of God, that the good and free spiritual ministry of true lovers of God far exceeds all of the the evil, selfish, money-seeking false religious clergy ! You think it is bad now? Look at the far greater powers the "temple tycoons" of 2000 years ago had !
Some day here in our Father's Spirit of Light and Eternal Life, there will be more personal religionists than the present majority of over-organized religionists with false dogma and rigid, "dark age" clergy trying to supress all true and living and progressive spiritual Liberties. Our Father God, and his love and Spirit of Truth here, fully liberate us to personally dare to have NO human intermediaries between God and ourselves !
When more people stop giving money to the over-organized, too worldly-involved churches, the small groups remaining will be far more spiritual, real and spiritually transformative. Living Truth is always free and available to all humans without favor of one person over another.
If an individual is "in Holy Fire-Motivation" to freely live and share-teach in God and thus in his infinite love and mercy; you would do well to listen and reflect in Spirit and in Truth to discern the real message. You may then be "Fired Up" and IN TRUTH too, and spiritually "burn" to freely share with others these tremendous Gifts of our Father God !
If your religion now is just intellectual and second- or third-handed, you will be mostly dead to live sharing with all others, and hid your truths to yourself in fear.
On worldwide TV, in recent years, we have seen some very brave, God-led individuals, in the Spirit of True Liberty, stand in front of secular government tanks of immoral war and oppression to try to stop them. One martyr death there has the power to shock and convert countless others to more Godly living -- that is still true here, and increasingly so as more persons are educated on their real, Divine-Human Eternal Rights more than the present, too weak, worldly human rights. Godly humans will never allow godless, immoral repression of any other humans in the planetary Family of God here and growing.
Is it really easier to hide your God Light, within your soul and mind, in your "dark cave of silence" ? Count the costs.
What does one "earn" in freely sharing more love, mercy, brotherly service, truth, beauty and goodness with others in actions and Good Spirit News proclaiming ? The Sacred, personal receiving of more Divine love, mercy, Spirit ministry, truth, beauty and goodness ! And more -- perfect Paradise level peace personally Realized here and now and forevermore !
Our loving Father God is here blessing and strengthening you and me in Spirit -- without limits, except for our present, self-imposed ones.
