Ur not going on vacation u-r- in the military n the only family u can take if u-r- married is ur spouse n children that is it,if ur talking about bringing a girlfriend than u will have to pay for that out of ur pocket the military is not going to pay for that n yes I did serve in the Army.
These exotic places u talk about if we have military installations there n-u have placed them on ur choice of duty stations and there is a billet open in ur field of specialty u choose than maybe u will be that assignment it is still up to the Army,it is not like the Navy, where they go to all those places if u-r- serving aboard ship and Yea! I no because I served in the Army & Navy,n that is no joke

The army does have bases in those locations, however it is difficult to get assigned there. Depending on your MOS, you are much more likely to be placed in a divisional unit that is deployable. That is where the Army's priority is these days due to the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. I did three years in the Netherlands, but this is the exception, not the rule.

Once you join the army, your first duty assignment will be at the choice of the army, unless it is put in your enlistment contract. After that, about the only thing you can do, is kiss your branch managers butt or use your reenlistment options to get what you want.

good luck

N O!!! Wherever the US Army is at, is where you will be stationed!! Italy is not a exotic place. If you are stationed in Italy, you may take your family if you are married!! Don't think the US Army is in Cyprus!!

You can take your family I guess, but you wouldn't see them very often. And most training is done in your home country, so don't expect to be off in the rainforest or up in the mountains somewhere right away.

Basically they will send you to the middle east, I doubt you'll get to go to Italy or Cyprus.

i've never heard of that. maybe at an oconus place or overseas station like germany and alaska but you would be there for work not a vacation. normally if married the spouse will travel and live with you but as for inviting friends i guess you could for a visit. if you mean just a fly by or temporary thing not that i know of unless it's a stop on the way to iraq or something.
