It just that most of the guys think that if they tell what they feel and if the girl has some one else in mind she would not even consider him as a friend... and ego is another thing which comes in ...they don't want to lose to another guy...just lose there heart to a girl if u want some one to confess to u just give him hints u like him ...u can go out of your way with hints too :) best of luck

Depending on the age a lot of guys are just afraid that if they show you they like you and you don't like them back they'll look stupid. As they grow up they know how to deal with rejection better and are better at realizing that it's ok not to have every girl like you...eventually they find someone.

Sometimes a guy is not sure if a girl likes them. I am a guy who is semi shy. I talk to girls every day but am reluctant to talk about relationships. Some guys are afraid of being rejected. Also, guys wouldn't know if a girl is single or not. Its a matter of comfort.

look heres the problem if a guy was to tell a girl he liked her he would be open emotionally to any thing and trust me it doesn't feel good because so many emotions and thoughts run through the head all at once and the always that treat of rejection

My natural instinct is to fear rejection
and embarrassment.
However, I'm slowly learning that
if I don't make my move, some other guy will.
I'd rather try, fail and pat myself on the back
for having the courage to try and fail.
Than to be kicking myself for being too
chicken to try. Success requires the risk of trying
something on the edge of your comfort zone,
because the potential rewards are worth the risk.
If you keep doing what you've been doing,
you'll keep getting what you've been getting!

The fear of rejection is very real and often paralytic.
Now, many guys have an overactive imagination of how they might deal (or not...) with rejection, but that doesn't make the fear thereof any less real to them.

When it comes to a relationship, girls have it all. They know they have a high chance of a guy saying yes, if they asked him out.
For guys though, the odds are against them and they have a big fear of rejection. Or they are just really shy.

The real reason, the "what-if"s, it took me months to ask out a girl I liked just to have her say no without her even seeming to think about it.

Well its easy for me to flirt with girls but asking out/ saying I like them is a hell of alot harder for me to do because im afraid they might say that they dont like me so yea its because of the fear of rejection :)
