You probably already had the flu. The symptoms come on suddenly and this is one of the differences between flu and a cold. An, no, a flu vaccine does not "lower your immune system".

I am a healthy 47 year old woman. My husband and I both had the flu more than a month ago. It was really flu diagnosed by our doctor. High fever, aches, upper respiratory infections, vomiting, diarrhea. Both of us were in bed for 9-10 days. We were each sick almost 3 weeks. Both of us have recovered with the exception of tiring a bit more easily than normal.
I was had to take a flu shot last Friday as part of new employment medical requirements. I was also given the first in a series of Hepatitis shots on the same day.
Within 7 hours of taking the shots on Friday, I began to get a sore throat. By the next morning (almost 24 hours after the innoculations) I also had a raging sore throat, low grade fever, earaches and another upper respiratory infection. Saturday and Sunday I ached so bad even my skin hurt. Now 3 days later, I have laryngitis and a chest and head full of concrete congestion.
I am not allergic to any egg products either. I don't believe this is coincidence. My husband didn't receive that flu shot and he is fine. So was my system overloaded because the Hepatitis shot was given the same day or was it the flu shot?

I rarely got sick I was born. Sometimes I did not get sick for 2-3 years. If I got sick, there was only 1/year. My immune system was strong. I started getting flu shots for 2 years. Got 1 flu shot/ year. During 2 years, I have got sick so many times. My common cold lasted for 3 weeks. I became normal. Then 1 month later, I got sick again. I got sick about 6 times/ year. I am eating healthy stuffs every day and work out 4 days/week, but my body is still weak. I will never get flu shot again.

Generally Flu gives high fever 102-105. Body ache weekness. It is around 10 days disease. first few days high fever but the bodyache and weakness will be there for more than a week. There is alwaysa chance that u can get flu after flu shot. I believe u got the inactivated vaccine which they give Intramuscular. Live will be given through nasal mist. Even with Inactivated u may get flu. But probably u picked some other viral infection from the place where u got the flu. Currently with all your symptoms the chance u have flu is very less. If you get high fever and very bad body ache u have to see the doc within 48hrs of the symptoms because tamiflu and other flu medications are useless if u give more than 48-36hrs

I had the flu shot a few months ago, and I always read all the literature they give me in these situations. I believe that these symptoms can be a result of it and it shouldn't be a big deal, although if it worsens you may want to call your doctor. You might have just gotten sick normally...the flu shot doesn't prevent against all types of flu, but it shouldn't lower your immune system...although your body may be acting differently to it.

I know several people who got sick after getting a flu shot.. it doesnt lower your immune system, its supposed to make it stronger. but sometimes the flu virus is stronger than your immune system..
I am 40 years old, and I personally havent had a flu shot sinceI was a sophomore in HS, and I've only had the flu twice in that time.. I believe, if you're gonna get the flu, you are gonna get it wheather you have a shot or not.. sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesnt..

my dad has the smae exact problem. 2 weeks ago my mom, dad and i got the flu shot. the next day my dad was sick with flu-like symptoms.
it's a possiblitity that you caught something before you got the shot.. and it only took a few days for the illness to show.
i was fine though.. and it was my first time getting the shot too.
My grandparents said they had the flu shot for three years... but they stopped because they found that they were deveopling flulike syptoms...
i'm not sure whether you can catch the flu from the flu shot.

This is probably coinicdental. The flu virus in the vaccine isn't a live virus, so your chances of getting flu from it are VERY slim to none. You probably have either a cold or allergy attack. (I get allergy attacks similar to what you're describing in the fall and in the spring.)

I always felt lousy for a couple of days after getting the shot. But not as bad as you say you feel. Could you be having a reaction to the shot?

At first it does, and then it kicks in. If the flu virus is going around, you won't get as sick as the next person just mild symptoms.
