I'm going to buy a Nissan 300zx Maybe.?

Question

It has a leaky power steering pump, little rust, is red, has t tops and they guy wants $2500, it's located in ohio if that makes any difference. It has an odometer discrepancy (although the odometer reads 113,xxx). I love these cars and I know they are being collectors but, is it work it considering the price, age, and risks of other things going wrong?

How much for a muffler? power steering system? Also, is it normally the entire system that goes in these models. I'm pretty sure it's not turbo.

Z32's are fun cars but they can be a pain to maintain sometimes. Are you sure its just the pump thats failing? It could be one of the hoses or the steering rack.

Be aware that if you're not willing to work on the car yourself, it will get expensive fast. Its a difficult (but not impossible) car to work on and the parts tend to be a bit more expensive. Expect to pay close to twice what you would on a normal Civic or other cheaper car.

Also, I wouldn't buy into the belief that its a collectors car. Its not. Don't go into this expecting to come out ahead when you sell the car. Its not a good investment. I've had mine for almost 10 years now and I love it. But I'll never get out of it what I put into it.

A 1990 to 1993 300zx with over 113,000 miles and rust showing. Keep in mind 2,500 means it has serious condition problems Needs $1000 power steering and $700 cat back exhaust from Stillen Greedy or AEM. Nissan exhaust will cost 1,500 or more. Then what will you have a 16 to 18 year old car that because of its sports car nature has been driven hard. 300zx are not for budget minded people because they are frightfully expensive to repair. The collector ZX's are 1995 or 1996 convertibles or coupes perfect examples with low miles some Z car club member has had in his garage and wants over $18,000 for with 36,000 miles original paint second set of tires just put on it.
