Who pays the house bills? Who pays for the vet bills? Who pays for the other cat expenses?
If its you, fine. But if you live with your grandma and she pays those bills, its her decision. If she rents, she may be only allowed to have 2 cats. How old are you're current cats? Do you take good care of them or just let them sit around?

If you want more pets than your grandma will allow, you need to figure out why. Try volunteering at a shelter and that will allow you to play with all kids of cats and stuff and they will get the attention they need and you will get your 'fix' for another cat.

I have 3 cats at home but they have been rescues. I also used to volunteer at a kitten rescue center so I got my 'fix' of wanting a new kitten and they got much needed attention.

Part of owning a pet or pets is knowing when to stop and care for the ones you have.

Start by being REALLY extra super esponsible with the cats you already have, making sure to feed them, scoop their litter EVERY day, and play with them. Do ALL the work!!!!!! I know its evil, but it's neccesary. While you are doing this, Do NOT mention wanting another cat at all, or she'll get suspicious of why your being so responsible. It has to seem like your just doing it because your responsible. Don't make it to obvious though. Keep up the responsible stuff for a few months, then start volunteering at an animal shelter because you love cats so much and want to help them, and then just happen to find a kitty in need of a loving home who will die or something otherwise, who you really love and crap. Keep up the responsibility stuff and beg if you have to. WARNING: this may take over a year. It took me 2 years to persuade my dad to even let us get 1 cat, now we have 2.

First, either pound on the hood of the car, or just beep the car horn. The cat will come out. Secondly--FIV is not easily passed, almost impossible to pass if the cat who has it has no teeth! It's spread by biting, NOT by casual contact. Mutual grooming, shared food/water dishes, shared litter boxes will not pass FIV. It may pass FeLV which is Feline Leukemia, but the FIV virus can't be passed this way. We've got two FIV cats, both males, who were brought indoors with our three non-FIV cats. In the 10 years they've been in there's been no transmission of FIV to the three that didn't have it--and they're together 24/7, play fight sometimes pretty roughly, and have fullcontact with each other. I've seen my FIV gray and white cat body tackle my black non-FIV and throw him to the ground, gnaw on his back with open mouth like a shark, then the black pushes him off, climbs to the top of the couch and flings himself across the room, the gray/white one in chase thundering behind. ALL the non-FIV cats have had current bloodwork done for tooth cleanings, and they're negative for FIV. It's not a problem. Go ahead and bring your FIV cat inside, you won't need to worry about her. If you want, there are at least 2 FIV cat lists on yahoo groups, you can join them and talk to owners there. Most of them do have non-FIV cats living right there with their FIV cats and nobody has had any transmission of the disease. Non-aggressive cats won't spread it. So much new information is out now about FIV, it's not a death sentence and you just treat the symptoms (dry coat, runny eyes, mouth problems) to keep them healthy. Feed good food, and don't have the cat vaccinated, their immune systems are so low that they can't make use of a vaccine. A good vet that's up on the current research can guide you in making those decisions. FIV cats live for up to and over 15 years, so as diseases go, it's not all that bad.

Cats are positively adorable, and I admit, I'm a sucker for a cute face with a lot of fur.

But seriously, why do you want a third cat?

If you get this third cat, will you pay for the vaccinations, food, and Fixing it? Taking care of a kitty can be a pricey proposition.

If you really want to have three cats, get your own place so you can.

Good luck.

It is hard to answer without knowing why your grandma doesn't want a third cat. If it is because you don't take care of the 2 that you have, then make sure you do so. Keep the litterboxes clean so that they don't stink up the house.
If it is because she just doesn't want that many animals running around the house, you might be out of luck.

Who's paying for the food, supplies and vet bills? If it's your grandmother than it's her decision. Can YOU afford it if one or more of that's cats gets sick? Much less - three???

Missbogan - "Let your cat out and breed?" Are you KIDDING me? Please go spend some time at your local shelter and look at all those little homeless cat and kitten faces. And think about how many of them will die because of irresponsible idiots like you who don't spay and neuter!
