It looks great on one, but it still looks good on a standard def TV. (I haven't 'invested' in a HDtv yet, despite having a PS3 since march)

I really doubt it. If a PS3 is anything like an XBox 360 (since they're the same generation consoles), you'll be able to plug it in to a regular TV via the red, white, and yellow wires. It might even come with another three wires similar to them specifically designed for HD-TVs.

Yes? Or else it's a waste of money. Owning any of the 2 next gen consoles (Xbox 360) should not even be purchased unless you already own an HD TV, or else you are better off w/ PS2, the 1st Xbox, or a Nintendo Wii. It will still work, but until then save your money.

i was playing it on standard tv for about 2 months. i thought that the graphics looked awesome. but when i "con"-vinced my wife that we need one, i was blown away. there are simply loads and loads of detail and color that you didn't even know you did not know about.
