With Tricare Standard you will have to pay 25% of the cost of each Doctor's visit and 25% of any required service that is billed separately (like Labs, ultrasounds) and if you stay in the hospital the cost is $512 per day or 25% of the daily charges whichever is less as well as 25% of any separately billed srvices.

Standard has the highest costs of any of the Tricare options. You pay more out of pocket than with Extra or Prime. You should talk to your husband about switching to Prime.

You or your parent should contact the Tricare servicer for your region and get the facts. Also, it is possible that Tricare will not cover any costs for your child's care once he/she is born. Find out now about that so you won't have any nasty surprises later.

Switch to Prime. While standard will cost more on a monthly basis, I can garuntee that what you will have to pay out of pocker during the course of your pregnency will suprass it easily. Prime gives you far better coverage, more options on providers and is just far better all around (especially if you are going to be using civilian providers most of the time.) As you saw on the previous post, that 25% is going to add up quickly, especially for lower enlisted!

I am ret Navy man and my wife and I have tricare prime it costs me $460 a year or $38 a month, I would highly recommend it. My wife had a hysterectme and I had knee surgery and we have other routine and minor visits and I think I had to pay maybe $200 out of my pocket. So tell your hubby to quit being so cheap and get n2 Tri Care prime.

Tri-Care standard covers 80% or 85%, why not sign up for Tri-Care Prime, it's only 400+ bucks a year. You can't beat that with any health insurance.
