if you don't plan on doing this her whole life it would be easier to stop now while she's young. if you are going to always give her can food it won't be a problem.

It is really better to feed your puppy dry puppy food. At 4 months of age, she should have no problem eating it. Roughage is good for them and is a better source of fiber for their digestive system. It also aids in cleaning their teeth - unless you plan to brush your puppies teeth daily (which many people do). You can certainly give canned food as a special treat once a week or so. It's great to use for administering worming medication too. If you do insist on giving canned food, I would recommend you get a brand that is specifically designed for "puppies", as adult canned food may not have enough nutritional value.

You can't do it everyday for a very simple reason - it'll rot her teeth. Dogs don't usually brush their own teeth, and unless you do it for her, the only other way she can scrub plaque/tartar off of her teeth is through crunchy food that will scrape against her teeth and certain chew toys. People who feed their dogs strictly soft foods end up with dogs that have really bad breath because of periodontal disease. There's no harm in doing it once in a while, say like once a week as a treat - but not everyday for a long time because you will ruin her teeth.

I have four dogs, and I have always mixed their dry dog food with canned food. The most important thing is to buy a high quality dry AND canned food (like ProPlan or Pedigree). Make certain to feed the proper amount of dry food for the dog's size and then mix in no more than two tablespoons of canned food with the dry. The canned food adds enought moisture and flavor that the dogs enjoy their food more, but it doesn't add enough moisture that it makes their dry food soggy which can cause tooth problems as they get older. If you begin to notice a build up of plaque on your dog's teeth, buy a Nylabone or other quality dental bone that your dog can chew on the clean its teeth. Just remember, quality food is key to keeping your dog happy and healthy!!

Is not bad. The thing is that you will have to brush her teeth more often. And the other thing is that if she gets used to eating canned food with dry food now, it may be hard to make her eat just dry food in the future. I have a 7 month old pup and she LOVES canned food, so I do that too, I mix dry food with the canned food, but I don't do it often, because I used to do that everyday and then she would eat the dry food.
So its up to you, if you want to give her mixed food now and then just dry food you can also do it, but it will be hard to convince her to eat just the dry food.
And if you are gonna keep giving her dry food with canned food don't forget to brush her teeth often.
Hope that helps...! =)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with mixing canned and dry food. Some dogs love it that way.
Just make sure she's not being overfed.

My pup went through a phase like this - she wanted something else on top of the dry food. I got the better quality stuff that looks like a half decent stew, rather than the gloopy stuff that looks like you know what. When she got into a real growth spurt, she forgot about her little fad with soft food. I have loads of it in the cupboard still.

I use can food as a reward once a week. using can food with every meal i do not prefer becuase it's not good for their teeth and it makes their stool soft, not firm. this can mess with the anal glands. can food is mostly made of water with hardly any nutritional value. you should always read the label before choosing your dog food.

Its fine to give her canned food mixed with her food, but only for another 2-3months then just give her the other food.. The Non-canned one..
I did co-op at Pj's PetStore, and thats what they did.. So thats how I know., :)

I don't think it will hurt her really but too much of the soft stuff can make her poop soft, which isn't good. I think its always supposed to be hard? I know, its kind of gross. So i wouldn't suggest giving it her all the time.
