Some victims at the camp were burned and killed in the ovens.

I don't think that you read this book.

That is the most amazing book in the world! It always makes me cry. Well, Elie Weisel was in the holocaust and was prisoner at Aushwitz, where he and the other prisoners were forced to leave there family and were separated by gender and made to go see the infamous Doctor Mengal who saw if each person was strong enough to perform tough manual labor. The weak ones were immediately killed. Just research Aushwitz and you will get a lot of results about this. Good luck.

I commend you for reading this signature book on the Holocaust. The chimney represents the place where the prisoners were burned in the oven. Eli, at age 15, is being told that he's going to die in the ovens.

That book was very intense, heartfelt, emotional, and awesome. The quote refers that the only exit from the concentration camp is through the chimney. It refers to the Nazi Oppressors dominating the camp prisoners, (mostly the Jewish people) so terribly that they are incinerating them in the ovens, and their only escape from the prison is as smoke after being burned.

Read this book people!!! It is eye-opening!!!!!!!!! The relationship between Elie and his Dad is incredible!
