My two dogs are missing. They either got out last night when family member came home or early this morning when family member left. The gate is automated and was open long enough for the car to go through.... so I guess whoever let them out didn't see them go out.

Been driving for couple of hours looking but they aren't in this area. I live in a desert so I'm sure they're thirsty and there's also lots of coyotes around.

They are about 1 year old each and weight around 30-50 pounds.

So anyone have any tips or advice to find them?

Will they come home on their own???? I left the gate open just in case they come back.

They've been missing at least 7 hours. : (((((((((((

Call the local shelters, vets and animal control.

Visit the shelters in person, shelter staff can be really bad at identifying dogs and have been known to say that a dog is not there when it is.

Put up a ton of posters with a current photo. It's best if you can offer a reward "for information leading to the return of"

Keep looking and keep your cell phone on you at all times, or if you don't have a cell have somebody at home manning the phone.

My best advice is to put up flyers (including a photo), driving around is good but it's highly unlikely you will see them as by the time you've driven down one street they can be 5 streets away and you'd never know. Most people, especially if they have dogs, will call if they've seen your dog. If you see other people walking their dogs or jogging, ask if they've seen your dogs as chances are these are the sorts of things that your dogs will follow especially if they are friendly. If your dogs aren't all that interested in people I would focus on less populated areas around your home. If your dogs are thirsty or hungry it is most likely that they will come home. Also dogs tend to go to places that they know, such as where you walk them, so I would suggest going on these routes first. Also if their are any shopping centres or supermarkets close by I would check the carparks of these as dogs are usually attracted to such places. If your dogs have tags that have your name and number on them someone should call you if they find them, so make sure someone is at the phone to take any calls. Good luck and I hope you find your dogs.

Have you checked your local animal shelters? Or the Local pound? Animal control may have picked them up. Do they have microchips? If so, if someone was nice enough to pick them up and took them to an animal place that has a chip reader then you could get a phone call.

I would try that. If that does not work, start making fliers and put them all over. By this point in time they could have got far.

Good luck!

You should make flyer's and post them around your neighborhood. You can also post them in your local news paper with their pictures in case someone happened to see them or possibly found them and are trying to look for the owners. I hope your dogs had an ID tags on their collar. Last, check your local humane society in case someone turned them in. Go to the humane society as soon as possible because they only keep the dogs for about 7 days to be claimed and or before they are evaluated and put up for adoption! I hope you find them good luck!!

That is rough!

Try what Just Me said: Check the local pet shelters. Ask your neighbors. Post flyers, if you have pictures of your dogs. And most importantly, call them: Let them hear your voice. If they can, they will come to you because they know you will have food and water.

Good luck!

I think you should call your local humane society or look in the phone book for local dog rescue agencies.
