Is it possible that you envy
The Pagan that is free enough to dance naked under starry skies and invoke the powers of nature.
The joy that Christians have found
The discipline and faith of the Jew
The inculcation of the Muslim
Do you have faith envy..Is that why you are so hostile to the idea of a higher power?

Well, anything is possible.
In my case I'd say "no".
But your question is fun.

I envy the guy who is looking at the pagan dance naked if she is hot and pity the poor guy watching her if she is not.

I envy the joyus bliss christians must feel from thier ignorance.

I envy discipline as it leads to success,

I envy that muslims always have a towel ready to clean up a mess.

faith is like the blissful ignorance of a child when all they have to do is play all day before they have to grow up, accept reality, get a job, support a family and pay taxes (get robbed) by the governent.

of course one would envy the simplistic view of living carefree, however do you not envy the freedom, maturity and responsibility that an athest has as a child is also told to "do thier homework", "eat this", "time for bed" and "you are grounded" as they carry only the illusion of freedom but are not truly free until they can think, act and survive on thier own by bieng self-reliant and self-sufficient.

I am as free as the Pagan. I prefer that my joy is firmly rooted in reality. Discipline is a good thing to have, but I feel it is best when it is self-imposed. Faith in my opinion is just watered-down knowledge and is of no use to me. As to the inculcation of the Muslim, I prefer to base my understanding of the world and my place in it on what makes sense, not on what has to be repeated and pounded into my head over and over until I believe it without question.

I do not have faith envy. Do you have reason envy?

I'm not hostile to the idea of a higher power, I'm hostile to the suggestion that I should believe that one exists even if there's ZERO evidence that one does.

Also if I wanted to dance naked under starry skies I could

As long as no one sees me cause the police don't like that kind of thing

No, but I bet all of those faiths envy the fact that we can combine those attributes (Well, except the faith part, but that goes without saying, and the inculcation, which isn't really an admirable activity).

I'm not hostile to the idea of a higher power because of faith envy... I just don't find any reason to believe that one exists. All of the things you mentioned can be accomplished without the aid of a deity or set of deities.

Yeah. I can dance naked anytime. And I'm happier than anyone who puts all their trust into some non-descript being. Happier AND saner. I'm not jealous of anyone. I appreciate the world much more than most of you because I don't have some **** and bull story of how it was "created," but I actually notice that it was a beautiful coming together of many different elements and constant changes.

Be jealous of THAT.

Not hostile to, just rejecting of.

I DO envy the Pagan's feelings of freedom with the nakedness.

No I don't have faith envy.. but I wonder, if at times, some theists have envy towards us because else-wise why would it bother them so much that we do not believe as they do.

This is officially the first irritating post I've ever seen from someone being positive towards Pagans.

Not really. I have danced under stary skies, I have experienced joy and discipline, I have savored knowledge.

Why do I need a deity for all that?
