. I have a dog, the one or two owners that don't clean up get us all a bad name. Also my local park - clear in the morning, strewn with cans, fast food packaging etc most evenings.

I dont know. Probably because they are too lazy to get up and walk to the garbage can or because they are lazy.

Oooh, you got me on this one! I personally don't understand why people find it so difficult to spit their gum into a trash can, or just swallow it. My evil side has always secretly wished that adults who spit their gum on the sidewalk should be horsewhipped on the spot!
As for the dog poop...I've heard of people housebreaking their dogs by rubbing the dog's nose in the poop to deter the dog from doing so again. That might work well on those dog owners in your building that don't pick up after their dogs. Get a bunch of tenants together and when you catch your neighbor not picking up his dog's poop, then rub the owner's nose in it. I bet it would work!

People are just plain lazy and have no interest for their environment. You can imagine what their homes must look like! I have a dog and I go to the council and get 'dog poo' bags for free as I too have kids and would be really unhappy if they came home with dog mess all over them, but thats just me.

and if you dare point out to people when they drop the litter...

dogs,cats,all animals do not litter,they just live normally in spite of the human race.WE are the litterers,and we have concreted and tarmacced the earths surface by building vast housing estates ,roads ,footpaths,race tracks etc etc .The animals then have very few ,if any,naturally occuring tracts of land to live on.The human race defiles everything it touches,something the animal kingdom is innocent of.

People are slobs. I pick up other people's litter sometimes, but I am a slob in my own way too. I have even littered. Everyone has. Even you I bet, if you were honest with yourself.
