The Economist is doing a special report in the influence and resurgence of religion in modern life. As they are renowned for their unbiased writing and reporting, could we all please get a copy and read it over the weekend?
We can then resume our usual trading of insults and perjourous trivialities on Monday

From the report:

"How frightening (or inspiring) is this prospect? As our special report explains, the idea that religion has re-emerged in public life is to some extent an illusion. It never really went away—certainly not to the extent that French politicians and American college professors imagined.".

This atheist American college professor never imagined that religion "went away". It's utterly obvious to me that religion saturates our culture, our media, and our public discourse.

It's the religious extremists who deny that fact, not we atheists.

Thanks for posting this - I will try to read the article.
