LOL Welcome to the land of euphemisms.
So, do you go to the RESTroom when you're tired?

Hi.
We DO call it a wedding day. However, it certainly IS a special day. Maybe when/if you get married you will understand.
Once you are engaged, there are months & months of preparations, reservations, tastings, choosing china patterns, signing up for the bridal registry & more.
There is choosing the reception hall, the type of music you want, what kind of food. There are the flowers, the bridal showers, & so much more.
There is the choosing of the bridal dress. When you finally pick THE dress & stand there looking in the mirror, you will feel like you are floating on air. And that's just at the store.
There is a lot of stress that goes along with your wedding day, also, such as the seating arrangements & so much more.
When you finally get to that day, it feels so surreal. You will understand why they call it your special day. ALL the attention is on you. YOU are the bride, the beauty, the guest of honor. This day is all about you.
So, it IS very special. You will never experience anything like that again, even if you divorce & remarry, which I hope you don't. It is a once in a lifetime experience, so, it is very understandable when it is referred to as your special day.

The funny thing about that is that I thought your question was going to have something to do with getting your period on your wedding day or honeymoon. I never really hear many people saying 'special day' when referring to wedding days.

Now that I'm reading this, I can't even think of how I refer to it???? When he and I are talking, I know we say "the wedding" or "the reception"...

It's "special" for several reasons--one example is the whole Dad giving you away...

It's a fairy tale. That is how we described ours because I have never felt that way in my life. I don't mind being cheesy.
