Yes! I have the same problem. I am also on Effexor XR. I take 300mg daily. I think 3-7pm is tough for alot of people, even when not declared depressed. Your body is trying to continue after a long day. Around 3pm, your body hits a major wall of the day. That is also when most people start snacking or snoozing. I try to get outside as much as possible during those hours. I think the meds might be hitting a plateau at that time (I take mine around 8 in the morning everyday). JMO! Hope that helps.

Try to separate the blues, which happen to just about everyone and depression. Most people have what they call the blahs in late afternoon because they're getting hungry and they're tired from the day's work. If you are having certain times when you're feeling down, plan to listen to some music or take a walk at that time. Break the routine. Do whatever you can do to bash those blues. I hope you keep doing well with the Effexor. It's a good medication. Also know that there will be times when you feel sad. Everyone has moments of sadness. It's what makes the good times seem that much better.

RE:
Late afternoon depression?????
I'm dealing with depression and for the most part doing great with the help of Effexor XR. I still seem to have bouts of the "blues" late afternoon between 3-7pm....anyone with similar experiences? Why?

You might want to consult with a nutritionist. It's possible your eating habits could effect your moods in late afternoon since you report your doing well on the Effexor XR.
Hope this is helpful, Good Luck!

I take Effexor and haven't experienced exactly what you are talking about, but from what I know, Effexor is a med that has to be be taken 2 or 3 times a day. Maybe in the 3-7 window, the med is past its peak. You can talk to your doctor about this and he/she may adjust the timing of when you take your doses so that this doesn't continue to occur.

My depression really kicks in at certain times too. I almost always feel it at around 1:30. I don't know why this is, but Surround yourself in a positive atmosphere to try to help pull out of it.

When I used to take Effexor, I took it either two or three times a day. Maybe if you talk to your doctor he/she will increase the daily dosage. If you end up taking several doses a day, do not take the last one too late because it could cause problems with sleep. Take it at the times you doctor recommends. Good Luck

Depends on what kind of life you lead. My husband works third shift throughout the week and off on the weekends. On the weekends, it is hard for him to sleep. So he pretty much goes to bed late, and sleeps most of the day. Sleeping late is not necessarily a bad thing. As long as you get your things done that need to be done, there shouldn't be a problem.
