I am, Agnostic. Yeah....I dont go to church or anything. I use to but I dont like people shoving their beliefs down my throat. Im not narrow minded like most, and i think because of that, it has opened my mind to a lot of new things. It let me see other points of views, and not just ONE.
My parents dont like the fact because im not "reliogous", but honeslty, i dont belive in hell or hevan, i dont belive that moses talked to a burning bush, and i belive that people look towards god as a sign of hope and faith. ....As a figure in the mind.

I'm assuming you are under 18? Continue being true to yourself while doing what your parents want. Before you know it, you'll be an adult and your parents' opinion won't have as much weight as it does now.

i understand what u are going through and i myself am facing the same. I believe in God but i am so not ready to be a christian. I would rather strive to be one in my heart for now and try to live right each day and yeah of course pray for direction. I hate the back and forth between religions and not because a person is a christian doesn't make the many better than you. Some of the most sinful people i know are Christians believe it or not and i dont think they were ready for such a life long commitment. The life of a christian isn't any easy one either since the devil chooses no other time to tests and provoke you until you are walking with God and most young chrisitans fall prey to this since all the sinful pleasure of the world they lived in before just magically start to look even more appealing than before. I say stick to your beliefs and trust in God....even just for now you can accept him as your personal savior. When he is ready for you he will call you. "the need of the moment is not for one religion but mutual respect & tolerance of the devotees of each religion. until the end of time the latter will disperse and only then will the true religion be revealed"

So, tell me how you've had "religion" shoved down your throat? That's always a good one.
The point is you are free to make your own decisions but it would seem that it bothers you that your parents don't approve. I actually think you will come full circle in the end.
Give them a little credit as they've been around a bit longer than you.

Luckily you have parents that love you and are worried about your eternal existence.
I don't believe in the afterlife, but understand why people like your parents do. As long as you are being fed and taken care of, you must comply to their wishes, even if they don't make sense to you.
Keep a level head, but respect your parents beliefs too, afterall they are the ones who love you and provide your shelter and food.

As a parent, I can tell you that the main issue is that they
love you and want you to be in Heaven with them. Each
Christian parent hears The Lord saying...
" Come over, and bring the kids ! "

HEATHEN!
lol, just kidding. Thus, you are experiencing what most atheists/agnostics go through when their parents are religious. You are not the first or the last. So just wait til you turn 18 and then party!

Tell you parents that although you don't believe the same things as they do you respect their right to believe and they should respect your righ to not believe.

That's what growing up is all about -- learning to become your own person and make your own decisions.
Just remember it's not your job to change THEIR minds.

your parents are going to resist at first, as my parents did, but when it came right down to it, they love me regardless of my religious beliefs, and thats a good premise to start with to open conversation...

Religion is a personal choice. Yours not theirs.
Stick with what you believe
