The words of Jesus told us that the bible was full of lies, and that we are to judge these lies by their fruit, a good tree can not produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can not produce good fruit. And then Jesus gave us the truth, in which to measure all trees. Thou shall love thy enemies, turn the other cheek, love one another, do good to one another, forgive all who have trespassed against you. Give to all who ask, and turn not way them who wish to borrow. Fear not them which can kill the body, but fear them which can kill both body and soul.
To say that homosexuals are an abomination to God the Father is not of a good tree. To kill to take what is not yours is not of a good tree. To keep all that you have while those around you have nothing is not of a good tree., To kill unborn children is not of a good tree, To make war is not of a good tree. To marry and then divorce is not of a good tree, to make a promise and then break it is not of a good tree.

I don't agree fully with this page nor do I agree fully with this person, it's just somewhat interesting.
The Bible is historically accurate, see my question on picking and choosing history.
I see that there is enough evidence for me to believe.
Most faiths, (there are several) are based on the same old testemant and the people are just peoples opinions of the truth. My faith claims to be the innerant word of God. Straight from the horses mouth you could say. There is history from the time of the Bible that shows that the historical things mentioned are true.
The Bible was written at the time that these things happened (yes I do understand that there are theories it wasn't- but without evidence) it was copied and it agrees with itself. There may be some translational errors in the Bibles we read today, but for the most part it has been preserved longer and better than any other book. We accept as true, histories of great men from around that time, histories that were written hundreds of years after they lived, and are still accepted as true. The Bible was writted during the time Jesus lived and right after, not even 100 years after. That shows it to be more accurate and have the details straight. Thats why I believe my Bible.
Why do I believe in God?
Because there is enough evidence to his exsistence, and I took the leap of faith nessisarry to believe everything, even that we were at war with Hitler. I believe in God because I believe in morals and in absolute truth.
Tell me,
is it absolutely wrong for me to shoot you for no reason?
I hope so.
Email if you want.

I wanted to add something:
The Bible predicted scientific things, which predated science discovering them. Like the world being round and the sun being the center of the universe.
Follow this link for a longer list and the Bible passages that list them:
Actually the site is undergoing maintnence so in a day or so go to www.creationevidence.org and enter the site then on the left side there will be a link for it.

READ THIS
Several main reasons exist as to why I believe that the King James Bible is right.
1) It is the ONLY book in the world which even CLAIMS to be inspired.
2) It has withstood hundreds of years of persecution and destruction, yet it remains unscathed.
3) It has outsold EVERY best seller that ever has been...... I wonder why???? Maybe because it offers what no other book can.
4) It is scientifically sound. (anyone who dares refute this can try all they want.... people have tried for hundreds of years to no avail in the end.)
5) It is historically accurate. (anyone who dares refute this can try all they want.... people have tried for hundreds of years to no avail in the end.)
6) It is the ONLY.... I repeat.... ONLY book in the WHOLE WORLD that has a prophetic track record of 100% accuracy. I repeat.... EVERY prophecy that was prophesied up to this time has been 100% accurate!!!!!! NO OTHER "holy book" of ANY other religion can honestly claim that.
7) It is alive. Let me explain: It is the only book by which thousands have been touched and moved. It is the only book that has the power to silence enemies and enbolden its followers. It is the only Book that holds any power whatsoever.
8) It reveals man's true nature. Many of the other "holy books" of other religions paint man as a good being from a good god of some "Oneness" type, but the Bible reveals what mankind really is...
9) It was written in over 60 "volumes" by over 50 men throughout a period of over 1,500 years, and NOT ONE CONTRADICTION. Now explain THAT!
Anyone care to challenge these? I'm reared and ready to go.
>> The King James Bible is unlike ANY OTHER BOOK IN THIS WORLD!!! It is totally unique and inspired of God.

"If it's emotional put that down, and if you have ANY empirical reasoning, please site and tell."
Honestly, why should I do this? If I were devoted to the principles of Surak and had long pointy ears, then a slavish idolatry of reason might make sense for me.
I don't have to think the bible is valid for me because it satisfies some number crunching validation formula. St. Augustine spent years debating on whether he could adapt Christianity given that he considered its scriptures to be fairly primitive and unsatisfying. It was only on hearing a child - a child! - singing, "Pick it up and read" that he decided to try and listen to the scriptures with spiritual ears.
What a dry and colourless world it would be if all of our experience, all the world's variety, had to be parsed through Mr. Spock's blue glowing viewscope.
I consider the bible right for reasons that have nothing to do with a microscope. And as they say, for those who get it, no explanation is necessary; for those who don't, no explanation is possible.

The Bible's accuracy and reliability have been proved and verified over and over again by archaeological finds produced by both believing and no believing scholars and scientists. This included verification for numerous customs, places, names, and events mentioned in the Bible.
One among many examples is the fact that for many years the existence of the Hittites (a powerful people who lived during the time of Abraham) was questioned because no archaeological digs had uncovered anything about them. Critics claimed the Hittites were pure myth. But today the critics are silenced. Abundant archaeological evidence for the existence of the Hittites during the time of Abraham has been uncovered.
Bible scholar Donald J. Wiseman notes, "The geography of Bible lands and visible remains of antiquity were gradually recorded until today more than 23,000 sites within this region and dating to Old Testament times, in their broadest sense, have been located." Nelson Glueck, a specialist in ancient literature, did an exhaustive study and concluded: "It can be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverter a biblical reference." Well-known scholar William F. Albright, following a comprehensive studies, wrote: "Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of innumerable details, and has brought increased recognition of the value of the Bible as a source of History."
There are more than 24,000 partial and complete manuscript copies of the New Testament. These manuscript copies are very ancient and they are available for inspection NOW. there are also some 86,000 quotations from the early church fathers and several thousand lectionaries (church-service books containing Scripture quotations used in the early centuries of Christianity). In fact, there are enough quotations from the early church fathers that even if we did not have a single copy of the Bible, scholars could still reconstruct all but 11 verses of the entire New Testament from material written within 150 to 200 years from the time of Christ. Bottom line: The New Testament has an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting its reliability.

One of the things that convinces me that the bible is true and that it is inspired by a Higher Intelligence than humans is - fulfilled prophecy.
It foretold the rise and fall of worldpowers such as Greece and Alexander the Great.
It foretold the fall of ancient Babylon and that it would remain uninhabited.
It foretold many detailed prophecies about the Messiah that all were fulfilled in one man - Jesus.
Another things that convinces me is the scientific accuracy that the bible stated years before any secular scientific proof had been discovered. Such as the shape of the earth, being circular and 'hanging upon nothing' in the universe.
The protective laws given to the nation of Israel. This many, many years before scientits knew about germs.

I believe in Jesus because He has proven Himself to me as being authentic.
I grew up in a home in which we were taught that Jesus was a liar, possibly a lunatic, and above all else, very definitely dead.
So, when I was at a low point in my life, and somebody offered to pray for me, even though I disagreed with him, I figured that praying to a dead man wouldn't do anything.
I said OK. He prayed, And Lo and Behold! GOD actually answered!
I can't fully describe it, but it was as though every fiber of my being was crying out that Jesus truly WAS (and IS) the Son of God. Every cell in my body burned with that simple message.
After the initial shock of this news began to wear off, all I could do was say "uh - oh - uh - ok"
The moment I said OK, the Lord began to do a thorough "cleaning" of my heart, my soul, et cetera. I felt forgiveness flow from the top of my head down to the bottom of my feet!
I felt clean for the first time since I was just a little child.
The Lord changed my life, and I have never been the same since.
Now, if Jesus truly IS the Son of God, then He has full and exclusive rights to decide and determine how to approach God. Sorry, but I MUST quote this one Scripture. Jesus said that NO man comes to the Father, except "by me". He said that anybody else trying to get in by any other means would be treated as a thief and a robber and cast into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. He said that he was the door, he is the entrance, and he is the good shepherd.
He has proven Himself to me time and time again, and it's more than mere emotion (even though emotions DO play a part, since we ARE, in fact, emotional beings), but this is MORE than simply emotion. Jesus Christ turned my life around.
It's amazing how that you can no longer deny Someone exists once you've actually met Him.
Additional thought:
I've been told that there are people who received help without turning to God and Jesus, and that's all fine and dandy, but that doesn't preclude help directly FROM God.
The fact that somebody can get help only proves that help is available. Perhaps some got help without God. Well, I got help FROM God, and I wasn't even searching for God at the time. It was somebody ELSE'S prayers that God answered!

The Bible is the account of the Judeo-Christian experience of God and it shows internally that this understanding expands over time. Yes, I see truth in it - the Christian tradition is still alive and remarkably similar to the early church, and Jesus' experience of God looks a lot like mine at times. Further, I would contend that whether Jesus is God (and I believe he is) is wholly irrelevant - his story has been given that status for us by our collectively investing it in him. When I act as if it were true I do, in fact, become a new creation and tap into God's will.
I view other religions as the experience of the divine ground of our being from other perspectives. As such, I see truth in many places.
Aldous Huxley's book The Perennial Philosophy contains the "proof" that you seek. The illusion of Ego, the eternal-ness of the Self (soul, Atman), and the religious connection to the immanent and transcendant spiritual (God, Brahma) are all objectively verifiable experiences that anyone can subjectively experience by commiting to one of these paths.

The proof and evidence is all around you and everywhere, undeniable proof, and indisputable visible evidence. It is called creation and life. Unless your are blind, deaf, and senseless. You can see, smell, taste, hear, feel, and examine the evidence.

We live on a planet teeming with life. Plant life with approximately 250,000 species, animal life with over a million species. Scientists are learning just how complex life is. So complex that it requires design. The evidence of design requires a designer. Scientists are also learning the conditions for life; just how perfect conditions here on planet Earth are to support all this life.

The human brain, it absorbs forty megabytes per second of data while awake. That is two terabytes of data a day. At night, it sorts and stores that data through the creation of new chemical bonds and synaptic connectors.

Sure, right, this all just happened and evolved. This sort of thinking takes considerable faith, exponentially more faith than believing in a creator.

This is why:
2 Peter 1:20-21 “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”
Sorry......can't do it without posting Scripture. The Bible doesn't preach & teach opinions.......it speaks the truth.

They have no proof or evidence except the bible. I used to blindly accept it as God's word and revelation to man but the more I read it cover to cover and studied it the more the contradictions were evident.
I believe Deity has many facets like that of a diamond. I believe in the Goddess and God along with the other gods and goddesses.
Deity is in all and all is part of the Divine.
