antibiotics like penicillin , ampicillin and keflex are not? Why can we not get cheap over the counter antibiotics in this country? It is a shame that when you don't have insurance and can't afford a doctor for an infection, that you have no inexpensive alternative, don't you think? These drugs have been proven safe and effective much longer than some of the other drugs that have been approved for OTCs. A medical conspiracy I think.

yes, they are two types of products, but that is not my point. You are still allowing people to choose their medications. If the antibiotic doesn't help the infection, then they could go to a doctor , but why force people who can't afford a doctor to go without medication...just making it by prescription does not mean that all the people with infection whether MRSA or otherwise will go to the doctor if they can't afford it. More likely they will tolerate the problem until it gets intolerable (meanwhile spreading germs to others) and then go to the ER but be unable to pay for that either.

the low cost rx website is interesting, but $89 for 90 ampicillin 500mg is highway robbery...I think they would be no more than about $10 here...I might be wrong.
