No, I don't think so. The first true work of fiction was probably Don Quixote. In antiquity people had so little familiarity with writing that they probably could not conceive writing something that wasn't true on purpose. And that's what fiction is after all.

You got it wrong, I'm afraid. Scholars usually write works of fact, while novelists usually write about fiction. The Epic of Gilgamesh is just one out of many works compiled that predates the Bible by a myriad of years. However I do agree with you that the Bible is fiction.

It is far from being the first book of fiction, for it copies much from other nearby sources. The Sumerians had the earliest such novels, and the Babylonians and Assyrians copied them, not to mention Hittites and Akkadians. The Bible also copies from the Persians

No it isn't the first fiction book. There are several books that predate the Bible.

Um. Ever heard of the Epic of Gilgamesh? It's older than the Bible and it is definitely fiction. The Bible isn't fiction.
