Don't know if this has hit R&S yet, but what do you think about that?

I think it's a great thing. Hopefully it will hold up on appeal and bankrupt their hate spewing "Church"...it won't stop them completely, but hopefully it will shrink their sphere of influence.

I hope it opens other preachers of hatred to the same types of charges. Note that it was a civil judgement in a state level court. I bet Fred is preparing his appeals based on freedom of religion right now and filing them.
That family is far from stupid and they bristle with law degrees.

I hope Fred Phelps goes back to the planet he came from.

That guy is a *true* heretic.

He is of the same materials that made the dark ages dark...

He is of the same spirit that invaded the Spanish and their inquisitions...

Fantastic...

Fred Phelps and his family are simply hateful people.. I am glad someone finally stood up to them in court and would like to see many more lawsuits in the future... Bog them down with lawsuits and they won't have as much time or money to devote to their brand of hate...

As much as I detest Fred Phelps and everything he stands for I also believe in free speech.

I'd worry about the ramifications for free speech and religion, except it means these wastes of carbon can't even afford to walk to a funeral across the street, and I'm perfectly okay with that.

Yeah, this was announced yesterday. I think it's just enough to shut them down until they find another sponsor.

It makes me absolutely SICK that anyone would do such a disgusting thing supposedly in the name of Jesus.

So glad that him and his church has to pay that amount for acting like the jerks they are at the funerals of military people who have died in combat.

Old news. I think I asked a question on it a few days ago.
