They used to take a lot of flour with them on their trips across the country and I'm sure it got bugs in it. Did they just use it like that, bugs and all?
Now days it is very upsetting to get bugs in the flour and when I remember, I freeze it a few days to kill the eggs or whatever it is in there.

I doubt they worried about the bugs too much. They were hungry and had no choice since they didn't have any supermarkets.

I think people nowadays are just too spoiled and wasteful.

Well those days they couldn't run to the market to pick up what they needed all the time. They ate what they could, and how allot of plagues started.

I don't know, but I would venture to guess they just used it that way. I see one, and the bag in in the garbage...same with noodles.

My Grandmother told me they used to sift them out...ugh

Of course they used it like that....it was normal life to them.
