....that God forgives sins? I think that 2,000 years of all of humanity paying for someone else's sin is damned convincing evidence to the contrary.

Thank you, Confirmed :) I wish I could remember the nickname of the user who made me think of that. (This is yet another of my recycled questions, lol.)

Oh... but you're forgetting Jesus. That's god's "out."
Of course, one must wonder why Mr. Almighty couldn't just forgive humanity outright. He had to create a mortal version of himself to suffer and die a horrible death in order to clear his conscious?
Sounds like the Christian authors just needed another guilt based control mechanism.

( Given the way mankind behaves towards Him and its fellow human beings it is a miracle that God has not nuked the planet. )
Humanity is not paying for someone else's sins.
Christ paid the sin for the sins of humanity. Humanity is the SOURCE of all sin.
You are complaining that you have free will. And yet you still sin.
Stop sinning if you can and then complain.
Your real objection is that you probably hold to the idea that new souls are created by GOD - new and sinful - in reality souls, like bodies are traduced by the generation of mankind - through reproduction. You raise an interesting point which has been discussed by the Chirch fathers and is known as Traducianism.
Have a gander -

Sooo true!
It's kinda sad how many of them say - we are paying for our own sins not Adam and Eves - but seem to conveniently forget that we "supposedly" have sin in the first place because of Adam and Eve. Remember people, there was no sin until they ate the apple?! So, if it wasn't for what they did (God included), we wouldn't be damned to hell for our sins because we wouldn't have any to begin with.... ugh, I could go on and on all day. Not worth it obviously. Great point though!

What 2 people did 6,000 years ago was the start. We've all been sinning and contributing to a fallen world ever since.

God forgives sins because He said so:
AC 5:31Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
...and we don't pay for other's sins because we can't. We can't even pay our own sins thats why Jesus paid it for us. Instead of us get crucified or beaten or whatever...Jesus took on all that horrible punishment so that we could be free.

No, you don't pay for someone else's sins.
You stand guilty on your OWN rebellion and disobedience!
Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever taken something not rightfully yours to take? Have you ever looked at another person with sexual desires? Have you ever been so angry at someone that you hated them, or even wished ill will towards them?
If, in the honesty of your heart, you had to say "yes" to these, then that makes you a lying, thieving, adulterous murderer.
(Jesus said that if you even LOOK on another person with lust or sexual desire, you're already guilty of adultery; and if you hate another person, you're already guilty of murder in your heart.)
Furthermore, to make matters worse, if you HAVE ever lied or stolen anything, then the next question you have to ask yourself is whether or not you like it when others lie to you, or would you like it if someone stole YOUR stuff? If you have stolen, but you don't like others stealing from you; or if you have ever told a lie, but you don't like others lying to you, in both cases that makes you a hypocrite with a double standard.
NOW, you're a lying, thieving, adulterous, murderous hypocrite!
And I never even touch on the rest of the 10 Commandments.
So, are you paying for someone else's sins? No. You have yet to pay for your own.
That's why God sent Jesus, so you wouldn't have to. Jesus died in your place. The Bible says that Jesus, who knew no sin, actually became sin for us. He traded places with us!
If you acknowledge your guilt before God (not before men), and you ask His forgiveness, and you turn from your rebellion and start living under God's authority, then God is free to grant you an undeserved pardon, because Jesus covered it for you.
If you refuse His offer, then you're faced with your own judgement, for your own sins.
The choice is really up to you - the offer is real, the pardon is legit. But the offer expires when YOU do. After you die, He will be your judge. Right now He is willing to be your savior.

All humanity isn't paying for it. One man- Jesus, Messiah, God paid for it, and all other sins of those who believe, on the cross. The only other ones who pay for sin are the unbelievers. Don't you want your sin paid for? The cost of even one sin is eternal death and hell. I'd a lot rather have Jesus pay for mine.

adam and eve sinned more than 2 thousand years ago it was the birth of christ that was 2 thousand years ago but as for everyone paying for adam and eve's sin this is untrue it is our own sin "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of god". it is only taking god into your heart and repenting that you can get forgiveness
