If they are using his menu names exactly, then probably he has some recourse... but common fillings I doubt it.
Just imagine Pizza Hut suing Dominos suing Papa John's... etc because they have pepperoni on their pizza.

Yes, it's legal but generally customers will see thru other businesses attempts to copy. If your son has unique names for each calzone, the names can't be used, but remember your son didn't invent cheese, mushrooms etc.

You cannot "patent" a recipe. You can copyright a name. Like "Big Mac". If Wendy's tried to use that name McDonalds lawyers would be all over them.
He is out of luck there, like the other answer, his customers will probably see through it. Although if they go to the other place first they will of course associate it with that place.

It's only illegal if your son had a patent on the name/ingredients, if the other bus. had prior knowledge of your son's names/ingredients, and/or if they did so maliciously or not.
