jonjon, are you capable of answering a question without bashing other's beliefs? You seem to be reasonably intellectual, but I sense animosity in most of your answers. God Bless You! Recieve it.

The military.

Just joking.

I don't hold any mere symbol "sacred" in itself. "Jesus" is not sacred - he's just a symbol. The problem with most "Christians" and members of organized religion generally is that they mistake the symbols for the things they're supposed to represent.

If they could get over this type of dogmatic thinking, they might realize that the controversy between religions is superficial and trivial, and that they're scrapping over things that simply don't matter. Religions are like languages; the same thing might be expressed in a practically infinite variety of symbols. The fight between Christianity and Islam, e.g., is like two people arguing over whether the word "hello" is superior to the word "hola."

P.S. - Semper - I'm really not trying to "bash" anybody's beliefs. Seriously! I'm criticizing the tendencies that lead certain "religious" people to bash other kinds of religious belief. I'm not trying to invalidate Christianity - on the contrary. I'm just saying that insofar as Christians (or Muslims, or what-have-you) insist that their particular religion has a monopoly on "Truth," they are wrong.

I guess I would really have to say my life because it could be gone in within the next few minutes or hours. I try not to take it for granted. My husband's father passed in Feburary, then his grandmom passed in March. God is not playin...I hold my life sacred because it can be gone as qucik as anybody elses. Also my faith, and my family are very, very dear to me.
