Yes. And there have been cases proven, by doctors and scientists. Do a google search on it - you will find it.

St Paul was the first to experience it.

I'm still undecided on this because i have seen ways in which it can be faked with chemicals.
A researcher went to visit supposed "stigmata" patients and used a Q-Tip with a chemical agent on it to determine if they had used a certain chemical compound and 3 were found to have used those components.
Another, a friend admitted to his friend doing it to himself.
Heamophilia can play a part in this also but in all honesty i am so undecided. Plus Christ was nailed in the wrists not hands.

very true

Pay no attention to the smear campaigns going on against Saints in the Catholic Church. First there was a big hub-bub against Pope John Paul II then (of all people) Mother Theresa, (these first two are not yet Saints but well on their way) now they are trying to pick on St. Padre Pio a stigmatist. Not only did he have the marks of Jesus but, he could read souls and he also had the gift of bi-location---he could be in the same place at two different times. There was a tremendous odor of something like roses but not quite, when he was around---the odor of sanctity they call it.

The one thing stimatists don't do is SAY they have the wounds. The wounds speak quite eloquently by themselves. I've never read anywhere that stigmatists made a big deal about having the wounds, quite the opposite. What Padre Pio, St. Francis of Assisi and the others had in common was unusual holiness.

Of course if they bleed from their palms and it is documented, it is true. Has nothing to do with religion or christianity, however, it is a natural defect or disease of the body. Funny thing is, every stereotype of Jesus being crucified shows nails in his hands, when in fact no one would have ever been crucified that way, crucifixion used spikes or nails driven in the arms above the wrist. In the hand, the spike would just rip out between the finger bones due to the weight of the body. The romans crucified thousands of people.

No, it's either an hysterical reaction or it's caused by Satan. Proof: these people always get the stigmata on the palms of the hands, instead of on the forearms. It's been repeatedly proven that there's no way the nails pierced Jesus' hands, since the hands cannot support the weight of the body.
