GDS Pal old one has mechanical weakness and has been repaired already still under warranty repair but do not want to go down route of having it repaired again. Guess I just struck unlucky with this gearbox. rest of car in good con but is now 8 years old so is it worth my spending 2,500+ on new one?

Your price in US dollars would be double in sterling making it unaccessible to me!

It would not be worth it financially to buy new.Reconditioned boxes providing they have been fully reconditioned is the way to go.

I would try Saabtec in Glossop,Derbyshire. I's run by Richard Elliott who is the consultant technician to the Saab Owner's Club, and specializes in gearbox repairs and replacements. He will be able to either rebuild yours or fit you a good used one. I just had my 9000 Aero gearbox replaced there at a fraction of the cost at a normal garage. Plus, he will let you have the use of a courtesy car, which is a big advantage.

The scent is from while the vehicle became specific. the interior became moist, then the doors n abode windows have been close up and allowed to prepare dinner. In turn, you have a comfortable case of mildew beginning and the scent is something that became alive interior the carpet, is now decaying. (old burgers, fries, etc). you could fabreeze the vehicle, yet you will do it over n as quickly as greater. the main suitable thank you to do away with the scent is to ionize the vehicle. in case you have an ionic breeze from sharper photograph, then in simple terms place this interior the vehicle w/ the abode windows up for six-12 hrs. otherwise call component shops on your section and spot who supplies an ionization therapy. An ionizer is almost a magnet for grimy atoms. they're actual sucked out of the seats, sprint, carpet, etc. In turn actual removing the scent, no longer in basic terms protecting it. the technique will make your motor vehicle scent like an indoor swimming pool for an afternoon or 2, yet which will fade.

A new gearbox, if you could find one, would run between 2500-3500 dollars. Saab warranties their rebuilt units. Call your local dealer and ask them for a price. What is the reason you need a gearbox?

I would buy one from a wrecking yard - get one with low miles - a recon would be very expensive - Ebay has many reputable wrecking yards - your best price will be on ebay - make sure you get one with as least amount of miles as you can find ..call talifaro or www.genuinesaab.com and ask them. you can also search posts on TSN ( IE the saab network ) etc. You didnt say in this was an automatic or manual ..

Find a local place in Yellow Pages that will recondition yours and then put it back on for you is the best bet.
