I am trying to figure out how many bags/pounds of flat glass gems/vase gems to purchase to make my centerpieces.

Centerpieces will be shallow bowls 6-8" diam with floating candles, with the stones in the bottom.

but with the gems in the bottom

Can anyone tell me how many gems they used (apx is fine too) per bowl?

We went to Michael's Craft store and bought ten bags I think. We had twenty centerpieces, so used a half of bag per bowl. I cannot give you a number other than that. If you are using a common color, they are really cheap at Walmart. Best of luck!

Hi. I have used this centerpiece and used a 1 lb. bag (or almost all of it) for each bowl....perhaps a little less than a full bag. It really depends on how many you want in each bowl?

So...my recommendation would be...say you are having 12 centerpieces....get about 11-12 lbs. of gems. That way you will have a little extra maybe, but I'd rather have enough than not enough!

Good luck!

I used these bowls for my wedding centerpieces...I had around 20-25 of them, and we purchased 5 or 6 bags (we purchased them at Michaels), we covered the entire bottom of the bowl. Good luck!!

The fish are a novel idea but I tend to agree with those that say they could offend some people. And as for the fish getting fed beer & mint lollies ~ yes, some people WILL go that far!! My girlfriend had beautiful floral centrepieces made up with lovely little dedication & thank you notes attached to each one so that a particular guest got to take the centrepiece home. Other than that, floating candles in small bowls but nothing too high as they will get in the way. Good luck!

How may are you making. 1 bag per 4 bowls should be enough.

Buy one bowl, and a few bags of rocks and figure it out from there. You should make them the way you want them to look, not the way someone else did them.

I did pretty much the exact same thing for my centerpeices. I used one bag per bowl, and the bag size was about... well I guess the size of a grapefruit.

I STARTED WITH A FULL BAG, THE CANDLES DIDN'T FLOAT AROUND LIKE I WANTED THEM TO. MY CANDLES WERE THICKER THAN A LOT OF FLOATING CANDLES. I ENDED ON USING JUST UNDER A HALF A BAG PER BOWL AND EVERYONE MADE COMMENTS ON HOW NICE THEY LOOKED

Why don't you make a "moc" centerpiece and then multiply that by however many centerpieces you need - can't go wrong.
