I bit my tong with the edge of my molar and it cut it. Now I have a canker sore and have had it for about 5 days. Will mouthwash help it?

Orabase Paste is what we recommend to our patients for canker sores. Being that it is on the tongue it may take a little longer to heal. Warm salt water 2x per day will also help heal it faster.

Does Mouthwash Help

probably not, most mouthwash contains alcohol which just dries out tissues and impedes healing. I would use a mild salt water solution to swish with a couple of times a day.

It will help it keep clean, but it will burn like a b***h. The only thing that makes them go away is time. You can put Orajel Canker Sore stuff on it & it will put a layer of medicine over it, but it wont make it go away.

Listerine will keep it clean. Rinse your mouth with either peroxide or salt water 3 - 4 times a day. Do NOT swallow. The salt water will aid in healing.
