I have found most British people to be quite polite and rather fun. I am an American, the son of a Scotsman, and if there was ever a people to dislike the Brits, it should either be a Scot or an Irishman. Growing up, I spent at least one day per week playing soccer with foreigners, as it was not a well known game back then. The differences in our cultures explain much of how we perceive them as such, but when you get to know the people, you will find they are truly a fun loving bunch and make as much fun of themselves as the do others. It is almost a British comical cultural thing. They make fun of each others' favorite teams, much as we do, but their style of humor comes across a little "off" by our standards. So, just try to realize our cultural differences are what makes us see them as the "high and mighty, self-righteous assholes", (that and the fact that we beat them for our independence and many are still bitter about that.)

It a cry for distress in a sea of trouble. We may have to suffer severely for our devotion to God but that should cause us to look forward with joy to the day when evil and injustice will be gone forever.
This is one of the most quoted Psalms in the New Testament, and it is often applied to the ministry and suffering of Jesus. Verse 4, like John 15:25 speaks of Jesus ' many enemies. The experience of being mocked by his brothers (69:8)is experessed in John 7:5 Verse 9 portrays David's zeal for God. Christ showed great zeal when he thew the money changers out of the Temple. Paul quoted part of 69:9 in Romans 15:3 Christ's great suffering is portrayed in 69;20,21 (Matthew 27:24; Mark 15:23, Luke 23:36, John 19:28-30. Verses 22 through 28 are quoted in Romans 11:9 and 10 and Peter applied 69:45 to Judas (Acts 1:20
In 69:3 David wept until he was Physically exhausted with a dry throat and blurred vision. He wept until he could weep no more, yet he still trusted God to save him. When devastated by death of tragedy , we need not collapse of dispair because we can turn to God and ask him to save us and help us. The tears will still come, but we will not be crying in vain.
In 69: 5-7 Although we want to do God's will we still make mistakes. But like David we should pray that our foolish mistakes will not cause ohters to stumble. We need to ask God to protect others who look up to us from being harmed by our mistakes, and sins.
69: 13 What were the problems David faced! He was scoffed at, mocked insulted humiliated and made the object of city-wide gossip. But still he prayed. When we are completely beaten down, we are tempted to turn form God , give up and quit trusting him. When your situation seems hopeless, determine that not matter how bad things become you will continue to pray. God will hear your prayer and he will rescue you. When other reject us we need God most Don't turn form your most faithful friend. 69; 32 When David says, "Your heart shall live" he means you will feel glad and joyful. Most people want lasting joy and will try almost anything to obtain it, form scrambling for more money to being involved in sexual escapades. The only genuine source fo happiness is God, and we recieve lasting joy only by seeking him. How are you trying to find happiness. Seek God and live as he says you should ( Matthew 6:33-34) and true joy will soon follow.

Psalm 69 is written by King David, prior to his taking the throne of Israel. It reminds us of the turmoil in David's life as he fled from King Saul. As David calls out to God for help and strength, the Lord hears his prayer and his plea.
The Lord heard David's cries; He will hear those of His children also.

King Saul was trying to kill David to keep David from the throne of Israel as promised by God. David was preserved thru it all because he trusted in the Lord. This Psalm has dual meaning. One it is a plea for deliverence by David from God and two it is a Messianic Psalm where as it prophesies cetrtain things concerning Jesus which already happened and will happen.
The following verses are clearly refering to Jesus on the cross as well as David in the mire.
3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
20 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
These last 2 verses talk of Jesus at the 2nd coming..
35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.
36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
