In Bangladesh we have telephone systems wherein the exchanges are the nerve-centres for fixed line phones.

For shifting from one exchange to another exchange in multi-exchange area, Application in plain-paper for shifting along with "No Demand Certificate" from the Telephone Revenue Accounting Officer and original copy of your "Demand Note" must be submitted to the General Manager of the T&T Board.

However, for shifting within the same exchange area, Application along with "No Demand Certificate" from the Telephone Revenue Accounting Officer and original copy of "Demand Note" must be submitted to the Incharge of the concerned T&T Exchange of the T&T Board, like Divisional Engineer, Sub-Divisional Engineer, and Assistant Engineer.

Similar procedure need to be followed for Change of name, Address and Designation of the owner within/outside of the exchange areas where the fixed line is installed.

These are major exchange areas within Dhaka city:

1. Ramna Area Exchange
2. Mogh Bazar Area Exchange
3. Neel Khet Area Exchange
4. Uttara Area Exchange
5. Gulshan Area Exchange
6. Mirpur Area Exchange
7. Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Area Exchange
8. Tongi Area Exchange
9. Army / Navy / Air Force / BDR Area Exchanges

If you are moving in the same district of the city, then you may be in the same area covered by the telephone switching office that covers your old house. In that case it will be easy for the phone company to switch wires (and you may keep your old phone number).

If you are moving to a district covered by another phone switching office with a different exchange prefix, then it will be more difficult, and they may deny you keeping your old number.

In the US, with electronic switching systems, people have exchange prefixes moved to almost anywhere within an area code. I am not aware of the condition of the telephone system in your country. If they have modernized to electronic switching systems, then you will probably get to keep your old phone number.

`Step decrease back, turn and stroll remote from all of it for purely an afternoon or 2...bypass someplace else...bypass camping out or to a kin abode...take no longer something with you yet a transformation of clothing and in case you have pets, see to their care in you absence...once you bypass decrease back, issues would be clearer and you'd be greater suited waiting to entice the line on what to maintain and what to supply away or throw away or sell...
