The platelet count is a very simple blood test.
A nurse or phlebotomist will wrap an elastic band around your arm and ask you to make a fist. He/she will then insert a small needle into your arm, usually in the area behind your elbow, and draw the blood into a small tube. The test takes only a few seconds and many patients feel little or no discomfort.
The blood will then be run through a machine to determine your platelet count, which should be between 150,000 and 450,000 platelets per microliter of blood.

They will just draw some some blood, run it through a machine, and give you the results.
