Being told what is right and wrong by society. Breaking that habit allowed me to think for myself, read the bible for myself, and gain the strength and wisdom the Lord offers anyone with an open heart.

Baring grudges and holding onto anger was the biggest thing i have gotten over and let go.
I worked very hard on myself to overcome those issues in my life.
I gave my problems and anger to God and he helped me let it all go and in doing so i am much kinder, calmer less uptight of a person.
I don't judge people or get angry over petty things. I turn my cheek to ugly attitudes and personalities and focus on the positives in life.
With all this gone i am able to be a better/stronger mother and wife.

Trying to let others define me.
It used to really bother me that I never fit in, but one of the few pleasures of getting a little older is that I was finally able to just decide to be myself, and if people didn't like it, so what?
The people who DO decide to be my friends, while perhaps fewer in number, will be true friends that I don't have to be fake with.

Going to church. I can't fellowship with those that are hateful. My life is so much better hanging out with people with morals and aren't 2-faced. Not saying all church-goers are bad, just when there are people that I think God would be the most unhappy with, those are generally found in church.

uhm, is it ok if I contribute as a non-christian? I'm trying to improve my life as well, you know...
Anyway, I gave up meat and fish. Of those, fish was by far the hardest to resist. But it's become a habit, I don't really miss it anymore.

I haven't broken any habits, God broke them for me. By the way, you have been misinformed, WE do nothing. God works in us. Even Jesus said, "of mine own self I can do nothing." With Jesus as the example, if your church tells you do become better, find another church, it goes against the teachings of Jesus.
