I am a Tiger Cub Den Leader and when I went for training I remembered the shoulder straps. I thought of having the scouts whose house we are having our den meeting at wear it, but I want to make sure I am not going against the code.

Hello Park Dad:

The position of Denner is a junior leadership role. The boys in the den elect the Denner via secret ballot. As a six-year old first grader, I think it may be quite a bit early for your den to elect a Denner. If you do have advanced boys, a Denner may be a good thing.

The Denner is a Cub Scout who has been elected by secret ballot by the den for a short term of office, usually three to six months. His responsibilities are determined by the Den Leader and Den Chief, and might include such things as being the head of the line, leading ceremonies, preparing equipment, setting up the meeting room, greeting new boys and helping them get acquainted, assisting with tricks and puzzles, or other worthwhile tasks. This role helps the boy prepare for youth leadership responsibilities when he becomes a Boy Scout. If your pack has monthly Den reports, the Denner may speak for the Den during the Pack Meeting.

The Assistant Denner is a den member elected by the den for a short term of office, to coincide with the Denner's term. He assists the Denner, and usually becomes Denner for the next term.

Keep on Scoutin'

The Denner is the "assistant" for the meeting he is "in charge" and has helped plan the meeting
Denners usually like to pick the idea for the meeting and then you are on your own ...... Don't expect too much input at that age even Star rank in Boy Scouts have issues with planning things (star is 2 below eagle)
Just let the denner choose what is going to be discussed and maybe plan a game to play after the work is done

There is no denner position. Do you mean den chief, den mother? The shoulder straps, epaulets, are blue for cub scouts and red for boy scouts. I dot know if Tiger Cubs wear the epaulets or not, check the book cover inside for a diagram of where all the insignia belong. Best of luck to you as a den Leader. I spent 8 years doing this and my advice is to take lots of pictures for the memories and take lots of field trips to local places. Have fun!
