Matthew 7:13-14 - This verse means that there are many ways to get to hell but only one way to get to heaven. It also says that because there are so many ways to get to hell most people will follow that path but you should search out the path that leads to heaven and life.

2 Peter 2:1-3 - I am pretty sure that this verse is warning against people who will seem to preach the word of the Lord but will not know the truth. It is saying that many people will follow them but we have to be careful not to be taken in by false preachings.

Hope I have helped.

In Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus describes a straight (narrow) gate and a wide gate to symbolize the paths to Heaven and Hell. The gate to heaven (eternal life) is narrow because there is only one way. In John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." All other paths (religions, doctrines, beliefs, etc.) lead to eternal destruction (Hell). Does this sound narrow minded? Yes, all the more reason why Jesus said few find it. The narrow path is available to all, but it's up to every individual to choose to walk it.

In 2 Peter 2:1-3, Peter echoes the warning of false prophets that Jesus spoke about in Matthew 7:15. These are people who claim to be messengers from God, but in fact teach that which is contrary to the Bible, some even denying the deity of Christ Himself. But, because people like what they hear, they choose to turn away from the Truth, and follow false teachings. Unfortunately, people have used the Gospel for personal gain for centuries, but they too will have to account for their actions in the end. If you would like to see an example of a modern day false prophet, check out some of the teachings Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda (Jesucristo Hombre). A link to freerepublic.com has been posted below in the Sources section.

I would encourage everyone who has questions about what the Bible says to study it for themselves. There are many modern translations available today that make the Bible much easier to read. I also reccommend blueletterbible.org. It's a great study tool.

Respectfully

Okay, The Road is Narrow that reaches The Father, The Holy Kingdom, The Only Way to that Road is through The Son thier is no other way to get through, no other way to get there.
There are lots of ways you can go down the broad road, examples, unbelief, sins that haven't been forgiven, because you haven't asked, just basically turning God away.

False Prophets are those that make false claims, there are many that will tell you things, and anything that contradicts Gods teachings or Gods Word in the Holy Bible is false teachings, many will claim to be prophets, I am not going to be the judge, but there are many other religions and they would be people worshipping false Gods, false Idols, and false prophets, it is primitive that we stay on that narrow road and obtain our salvation through Jesus, God warns us.

To the first verse passage:
It is saying that not many people on Earth choose not to accept "God's free gift of salvation", which will put them on the "wide path", which is hell.
Those who have accepted God's Son will be on the "narrow road", which is Heaven. Not many people accept Jesus, which is why the road is "narrow".

To the second passage:
Basically, it says that there will be people that lie to you and teach you the wrong things. They will try to bribe you and lead you to the wrong path. It's basically a warning to look out of those types of people, and to remember that God's Son is the only way.

I suggest getting a new Bible translation. It makes it a lot easier to understand.

I guess being spiritual is hard, especially in the ancient past when this was written. I am sure there were people that would teach a bad brand of religion back then, who needed to be warned about, and that it was hard to stay on the straight and narrow. I am not a traditionalist, so I wish this message was written in useful, easy to understand language. I like spiritual ideas that are so clear, that one can use them immediately in a crisis, without having to figure out how to translate them, when time is of the essence.
