any of you christians have disbelieving friends that won't be joining you in heaven? doesn't that make you sad? wouldn't your heaven (the most ideal place in theory) have all of your friends there? if the place was perfect, and your friends couldn't join you, is that place really perfect?

Some of them believe that God will completely erase their memories of damned loved ones. That's good enough for them. That shows you how much "heart" they really have. It's like saying, "Gee Frank, I like you. I'm really sorry that you'll be writhing in eternal torment because you're a non-believer, but on the bright side, I'll have no idea of what's happening to you. I won't even remember that you ever existed. Gosh, Heaven is swell."

Chief, as long as you were a good person in life, you're not going to end up in the flaming pit. If it even exists. :)

I don't believe a kind and benevalent god would send someone to hell, because he didn't believe in him. It's not logical. Makes no sense.

As long as any of us are good; help your fellow man, do good for the SAKE of doing good, you have the afterlife coming to you. The born agains will be shocked to see you there, I have no doubt. But, by their own statements, all will be forgiven anyway.

So do good. :) It's really that simple.

I feel sad for those who will suffer eternally the wrath of God for their sins. I know that I deserve the same. But I will be saved only by the mercy and righteousness of Christ.

When we are in heaven, there will be no sadness. That means no remorse, no crying for loved ones who were not saved, etc. How is this possible? I don't know. There are many things that God has not yet revealed to us. We must trust him and leave those unanswerable questions to him.

That's a very interesting question. I actually think that some people resist becoming Christians because they know of loved ones who have passed on who definitely weren't, and they can't bear the thought of being separated from them in the afterlife no matter how wonderful heaven might be.

There was a Robin Williams movie, WHAT DREAMS MAY COME that illustrated this concept in a very graphic way. His character is completely dissastisfied with a heaven where his wife isn't, so he goes to hell to either rescue her or be with her. While the movie certainly goes against sound Christian doctrine, you would probably find it very interesting since you posed that particular question.

The truth is we don't know what heaven will be like, and it's not up to us to decide who gets to be there. The Bible also doesn't say we won't be sad in heaven, it says the God will wipe away all our tears and then there will be no more sorrow. I think there will be moments of sadness for those missing loved ones not there, as well as regrets for not doing more to evangelize them so they would be there with us.

But as much as we will enjoy being reunited with saved loved ones gone on before, and as much as we might miss those not there, the main focus of heaven will be the glory of God and praising and worshipping Him. All our earthly problems and concerns will be swallowed up in that glorious victory. The Bible also speaks about how relationships won't be the same there as here, so I don't think we will be grouping according to families and friends and social strata the way it is on earth. All that will matter is that the Lord is there and we are there with Him.

Our Creator made a pretty neat planet & universe for us here in just 6 days (and it was even more perfect before the curse of Adam allowed sin to enter it), and Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for us in heaven, and He's been working on it now for about 2000 years--it must be something else!!

The perfection of heaven is tied to its total holiness. If God allowed the tiniest bit of sin to enter His kingdom, heaven would soon be turned into hell. (Just as the perfect Garden of Eden was ruined through sin.) I for one am looking forward to a world that is free from the curse of sin.

The ideal solution of course, is for all to believe so they can join us. It is not God's will that anyone reject Him and perish, and He offers us all salvation by grace through faith in His Son, who died to atone for all our sins. Our sadness at missing anyone who rejects Christ will be nothing to compare with the torment and pain of eternal separation from God (and all saved people) that is facing those who die in their unbelief.

It's God heaven, so He makes the rules--I just know that I want to be there. I pray that all my loved ones will be there, too, and I pray that you will open your heart to the possibility of it as well.

We are sad here on earth for those who choose the other path. Once we reach Heaven, we will not feel sadness. Only peace and love and joy.

Of course, it will still be perfect. Once we are there, we won't even be able to feel the pain of losing our loved ones anymore.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" (Revelation 21:4)

It truly breaks my heart. That's why it's up to me to share with them the love of Christ and set forth a good example so they don' t doubt.
