Yes, but only if He was drunk when he created creation.

Why can't theists think things through? If God is omniscient, that means when God was deciding among the infinite number of ways to create a universe, God knew, in advance EXACTLY what would happen in the universe he created.

So in essence, if God is omniscient, God wanted to create a universe where everything was bad at the beginning, because God wanted to flood the whole earth and destroy everything. God could have created the universe in such a way that it didn't need a flooding... but God didn't.

So either God is omniscient (and is an evil SOB), or God is not omniscient and is incompetent.

Genesis includes much of the accumulated lore of the Middle East, including a variant on the tale of Gilgamesh. (It is quite likely that these stories do derive from some sort of Neolithic localized flooding, since they are prevalent.)

But rather than being a dry retelling of the Gilgamesh mythology, the story of Noah is granted a spiritual meaning, in that even a God angry enough to cleanse the earth entirely of life thought better of it, and allowed it to persist.

Christians look to the story of Noah as a foreshadowing of baptism - that is its theological meaning to us.

Omniscience by definition means that yes... he knew what was coming when "free will" was borne to light in the garden of eden, but that doesn't mean he's not sad or angry as things come to pass. I believe it was a lesson taught not a mistake corrected.

God didn't screw up. The people He created screwed up badly enough to require their destruction by flood.

If you have a son, who, when he grows up, robs a liquor store and kills the clerk in the process, is that your fault?

God (your so called omniscient Deity) didn't screw up creation at all. Adam and Eve chose to disobey God even though He provided them with a paradise to live in. From there mankind screwed up creation. I'm surprised you don't know that....or maybe you're one of those people who cannot accept responsibility for his/her actions and has to point the finger of blame to someone else.

let's say you play sim city, ok? and you start your city and suddenly you see it's not developing the way you want.
as far as the sims are concerned, you're omniscient, but you can decide to destroy half the city with floods, hurricanes, earthquakes... i think in sim city they have aliens too... and in the story of noah...
so. sure, it's very possible.

the capacity to know everything infinitely...

you would think that if a being knew the beginning and the end of all things he would have done a better job, so he wouldn't have to resort to the almost complete destruction of his creation.

i still think that we are a spilled chemistry set accident...far side.

drink

now honestly, isn't this a bit provocative?

maybe it's a fly in the ointment of a fable or the dream-sequence fantasy "tie it together" thread ...

if I had a 3-year old who told me this, I would think "aha, this is an excuse ... what REALLY happened?"

maybe investigating the motivation(s) of the people who crafted mythologies would tell us more about ourselves

Omniscience does not imply competence.

But at least it means he knows he messed up.
