Limbo has been cancelled just recently!
I wonder where the Jews who were promised the Holy Land end up! Because the Bible promises BETTER THINGS" for the Chistians!

The 'Bosom of Abrahm' used to be down accross from hell. As Jesus described this in the NT. But when Jesus raised from the dead, so did the OT Saints (when born of the Spirit because the atonement was made) when Jesus raised from the dead. Then the 'Bosom of Abraham' raised up to the 3rd heaven. I have read this in the NT now don't remember where.
Also in the Gospels it is written in one that the spirits of the Saints raised up when Jesus raised from the dead. Jesus raised up a new body though. And the rest of us, including the OT Saints will raise up a new body at resurrection day complete.
So? Abrahams bosom Saints before the atonement & Saints after the atonement are in the 3rd heaven. To be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord.

The phrase "Bosom of Abraham" refers to the place of comfort in sheol (Greek: hades) where the Jews said the righteous dead awaited Judgment Day. Another name for it is Limbo of the Fathers. The phrase "Bosom of Abraham" is found in Luke 16:22-23 in Jesus' parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus.

Those that belong to Christ know were they are going.Lazarus knew as Paul did { 2 Timothy 4:7-8 } that he had kept the faith and finished the course, he could see his reward and what awaited him.
The rich man cried out for a drop of water{ Luke 16:24 }. He to could see his reward for being unrighteous.Even though he was dead he could see the place of torment that awaited him.

When Jesus died on the cross and then arose from the grave he forever opened the door to Paradise in Heaven. The Bible says Heaven is above us. The Apostle Paul said he was called up to the third Heaven. UP.

It's a reference to heaven....or paradise.
This is one of the verses I use in my defense of an actual heaven......and how there is no purgatory
Luke 16:22 "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried."

It no longer exists. Prior to Jesus' sacrificial death, it existed in the area we would call "Hades," but it was separated from the area called "Torments" by a deep crevasse that couldn't be crossed. Once Jesus brought the righteous Jews and Gentiles who were there up to Heaven, it disappeared and Hell was enlarged.
