Or to put it another way.... is a single person surviving against the odds to be considered "a miracle" if many more people die as a result (i.e. if the overall result of that person surviving is negative)?

Moreso than if a perfectly ordinary person recovers from the brink of what nature rightly intended.

At least your way, the distortion of the natural way is more than compensated for.

Why couldn't "beating the odds" be a form of miracle? Okay, it's not splitting the sea in two or turning water into booze, but still...

As for the serial killer: maybe he just signed a contract with the devil?

Yes, unfortunately the "miracle" distinction can not be altered once designated but the evaluative process may continue to reflect such adverse future consequences in two ways:

1. the distinction "miracle" can be stipulated to forever remain in lower case letters (e.g. versus "MIRACLE" or even "Miracle") and/or

2. must be uttered with disdain or in extreme cases, sarcasm!

Of course, the one exception to this rule is, if the people the serial killer kills are serial killers themselves...then we have a case of "neutralization" . Each has to be evaluated on its own merits. :-)

No, the old devil can appear as an angel of light remember, and he will get his place in the lake of fire. Look what the devil done to JOB, the devil has some power and a serial killer is obviously posessed by the devil.

What's the basis of your question?

In a hypothetical situation in which a serial killer has a fatal disease, why do you hypothetically think he survived if it's fatal?

Ok, so if a plane crashes right on the border between Texas and Mexico, where do they bury the survivors?

Dear Lucid,

Anyone surviving against the odds is good, any death is a tragedy.

God Bless

It's a miracle if he survives,
but its his choice to keep killing we cant say that he shood die from the disesase buecause hes a killer. We arnt God (or whoever u praise)......He was lucky.....if thats how u see it.

What’s this? Humor in R&S? It's a “miracle”!

Meaning is subjective and cannot be transported, unchanged, through Time.

But you already knew that.

Yes it is......

God has His ways.....and I don't question them.
Everything happens for a reason and is orchestrated by God & our free will working together.

Even the unsaved can be healed by the Lord. What they do with their lives after that is up to them........and the Lord
