The hatemonger, Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church, professes to be Christian. But he also preaches hate and does such abhorrable things as picketing the funerals of soldiers. What will happen to this man in the afterlife, according to your beliefs?

Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly,
They go to a lake of fire and fry!
See 'em again on the 4th of July!

Lol :-)

Gwen - I'm not wishing anybody to hell, I'm just curious about people's opinion. The rhyme is some lyrics from a Nirvana song (actually I think Leadbelly sang it first?).

joeinchi - that's an interesting opinion. I'm trying to keep my own beliefs out of this, so I won't comment, but I will say that Phelps doesn't picket their funerals because they're killers. He pickets because someone threw an IED (improvised explosive device) into their compound, so soldiers are in turn being killed by IEDs. They believe the war is God's revenge for that action, because apparently their bible says the Phelps family are God's chosen people. Basically they're crazy!

Nope. i'm no longer religious... yet i'm no longer propose the two. i could discover that to be in unfavorable style. existence is short. Its a short 2d in time and then long gone. I do discover a undeniable distaste for cheering over a dying no remember how plenty deserved. would he stay as long as he's in a position, pass quietly, then complication human beings not greater.

Let's be honest, he is giving the Christian community a black eye. I'm not sure if he is going to hell or not, I'm not God so thankfully I don't have to make that decision. But I would inject here that if he has professed a belief in Jesus as his Savior and repents of his sin, then he'll probably be there. We all carry baggage; some of us just make it easy for others to see. But what ever his message is, and I believe it is about homosexuality, is not given out of love then yes I believe it is sinfull. So that repentent thing may come back to get him.

Phelps 'god' is Satan - the 'god' of hate and lies. Unless he finds the true God of Love before it is too late, I would fear he might end up meeting the sower of hate in the lake of fire.

Why would I care? Because very real harm has been done by this man. People who share his violent hatred of homosexuals have killed, and Phelps has been right there cheering them on (like the people who killed Matthew Shepard.) Do you think God is pleased with this, and would have nothing to say about it?

Christians are called to speak out against evil, and I will not be stopped from saying that what this man has done has been evil.

He sure isnt getting to heaven, thats for sure.

My guess he just goes 6 feet under. Probably because i dont believe in heaven or hell.

Christianity is a religion that preaches LOVE and TOLERANCE. So, why is there so much hate mongering?!

Hell, along with the rest of his hate-filled, bigoted family. But would only be a temporary thing, since eternal hell doesn't exist, unfortunately.

Only God knows if Phelps is saved or not. It could be that Phelps is actually crazy, and he is not as evil as he seems.

Personally, I think this is true. I think Phelps is mentally sick and is therefore not in control of himself.

There's a special place of torment reserved for the likes of Mr. Phelps and his followers....and after receiving their just punishment, their souls will be removed from creation.

Who knows... but I hope he is able to find peace while he is still here, holding on to so much hate is a massive burden, it shows all over his face.

I wouldn't wish hell upon him, no one deserves that.

According to my beliefs I'm far more concerned with where he goes and what he does now while he's alive than I am with what happens to him when he dies.
