She won't use the extra features, just the starter, lock, unlock and trunk, so I want something simply and inexpensive, yet reliable. Any suggestions??

Try a site called The12volt.com for info ...there's lots of systems to choose from out there. Better to buy a good brand and have it installed by a pro shop in case you have problems and need support. I prefer ones with a long range and feedback LCD display on the remote. I've had mine (Auto Alarm) for 10 years on my 93 Grand Prix and never had a problem....paid 300.00-- installed. I like the fact that it's alarm feature will page me on the remote if someone tampers with my car...even if I'm in a building shopping or whatever. And the range on it is about 1000 feet so I have no problem starting the car from a good distance away like at work. Some car makes have add-on remote start packages also. Expect to spend 100-200.00 for a good basic system.

I would like one also. They are great in the winter. I know some that have them at work. They paid a bit over $100. for installation. They are worth it on a winter storm day trust me!
