If you're old enough to use the computer you're probably old enough to avoid being swapped for a fairy child.

As to how to avoid straight-out kidnapping:
Turn your jacket inside out when walking near fairy abodes.

Whistle or sing as you walk. It annoys them.

Carry a stick of rowan wood to hit them with if they approach.

And if you should happen to come across a ring of them dancing, don't join in and especially do not eat anything they offer you.

You better meditate/ pray, do mind-body exercises, eat healthy, and don't over indulge. This will make your spirit stronger and more sensitive and intuitive. This intuition will be important in recognizing and avoiding negative spirits, and being strong spiritually, will help you to safely venture into the world of spirits, especially at night when you sleep.

Toast doesn't help. That's an old wives tale. What you need is 4 Twinkees and 1 cup of strong tea. (No sissy tea either.)

I've got this magic rock I'll sell you for $20. It works like a charm (literally). I've NEVER been kidnapped by pixies since I've had it.

Do not...repeat...DO NOT pick the flowers in any old lady's garden!
Especially not your Grandmother's...
These flowers are home to many of these small creatures, and it ticks them off to have their homes destroyed.
