i dont want to offend anybody and i know this also occurs in other religions but i notice it occur most in christians and islam but more on islam its like a 55% to 45% thing
anyway i notice the followers of these 2 religions try harder than most to recruit people into their religion if you will.....
i'm sorry and i'm not saying all of them are that way but a higher percentage of them do it compared to others,
whats your opinion and do you notice this?

These two religions have the command to convert new members and grow the religion built into them.
Most of the other religions never considered the idea of accepting different people into them because they were concerned more with holding control over a group by keeping it separate from other people.
If you look at Judaism and compare it to Paul's Christianity the difference is quite clear.
The Jews clearly state when laying out the dietary and other laws that it is to mark them as a people apart from all others.
Paul scraps the dietary and circumcision rules so that he can indoctrinate anybody and everybody into his new cult.
Mohammad put the same sort of rules into place about accepting converts. In Islam it says to accept as an equal anybody who is willing to become a Muslim. It is no longer a tribal or nationalistic effort. The loyalty to the religion comes above tribalism, supposedly.
Buddhism is close because it accepts all peoples, but it lacks the command to actively seek converts. Many Asian religions are like that.
In effect Christianity, Islam and Buddhism can be considered as the first multinational corporations.

As for your rather childish school story and rant at the bottom, just try saying anything about not being a Christian in the USA.

You are not offending me. I can tell you as a Christian there is a calling to service by the Lord. I know it is my calling to be a witness of the Lord Jesus by the way I lead my life. In addition, I plant plant seeds to strangers that I meet who come my way. For example, when JW's or Mormons I share with them the gospel. Some have cried, some have been puzzled. Then I also am called to be a care giver and help those in need without them knowing it is from me. I don't think you have to be sorry , but seek the truth and the way. and the Lord will do the rest. I think Islam is getting a lot of attention by the media. I don't know how you can gauge what religion proselytes more than another.

a religion is not a cult, as someone mentioned... as a muslim, i have an appreciation of other religions and i think everyone has a right to believe whatever they want.
the thing u asked, and i say this as a muslim: some people who have a knowledge of islam are encouraged to invite to islam the other people, because we believe its the Truth, and we just want to tell it to others as well... because we care. I care. For u and anyone else.
here in bosnia, i dont notice it, here mostly jehova's witnesses do that, at least no one else but jehova's witnesses approached me in the street or came to my doors to preach...

Lets not forget the Jehovah witnesses. It just shows how organized religion is taught. It is something that someone teaches you not something that you have this deep faith in.
I guess they have to recruit people because people are not going to one day wake up and decide to be a certain religion if they do not know about it. Someone has to introduce it to them. It is usually the parents (which is why most people are whatever religion their parents are).
Whatever makes you a better person, I guess is good.

Christians do not recruit...they spread the message and if asked will stop talking to you about it. Problem is a lot of people will talk to them, ask questions, and THEN complain later about it being pushed on them. It's a cowards response. They do not get offended if you tell them "Thank you so much, but I am just not ready to hear your message".
Try saying that to a muslim.

It's a basic tenet of their religion, the need to convert others. A lot of religions, like Buddhism, Hinduism, etc., do not have this same tenet, but are willing to accept converts without seeking them out.

You're correct. A main tenet of Christianity is the 'Great Commission', ie the requirement of Christians to evangelize and bring non-christians to salvation through Christ.
A main tenet of Islam is that all humanity must submit to the will of Allah and live under sharia law. If one who is a 'person of the book' (jew or christian), then that person can live on as a dhimmi or second class citizen (unable to openly practice their religion)....others who refuse are to be killed.

you are right but theres more to it than most people can see.something very sinister is going on, dont you think?
its not about heaven and hell as they will have you believe but mostly the more people in the flock, the more money in the boxes and by the way this happens in almost all religions.
its all economics mate thats all.

With Islam, I've only noticed a large percentage of them killing people who do not believe in Allah. No recruiting - just killing.
