I'm on CANFAR executive committee at my schol - basically we do AIDS fundraisers and awareness campaigns. We have a CANFAR week in Februrary, and each one of us on the committee has to organize an individual fundraiser. I really want to do something unique and creative (No bake sales), that will bring a lot of money in. Do any of you have any suggestions? What has worked for you in the past?

Also, my principal is super-conservative, afraid of getting sued and politically correct - so nothing that she would not approve of. (She didn't approve about 1/3 of the proposed projects last year - including a bachelor/bachelorette auction, among other things)

There are no easy-to-do, never-been-done-before activities that will "bring a lot of money in." Your goal with your fundraising activities should be both to raise money and raise awareness regarding AIDS, regardless of if it is unique or not. A few ideas: gather sponsors to pay a certain amount of money for every hour your CANFAR members engage in a particular activity during CaNFAR week, like cleaning up the houses or yards of people in hospice programs, or participating in Meals On Wheels -- this helps both other charities and raises money for yourself. You might want to visit your local library and look through the books on fundraisers.

At my kids school they have an annual (very successful) auction / dinner at a museum. If you guys are on a budget have it in the school and start NOW asking parents and local businesses to donate goods. An incentive for them (especially businesses) is that you guys will make a booklet telling what they donated and their information, point out to them that you will encourage parents to support local business that supports their school.
Our school has auctioned everything from cooking lessons, jewelry, video games, books and architecture services to private piano lessons. If you do not have the means for a formal dinner, try to get your local pizza place to cater the event. Good luck.

My soccer group is making plans to throw a Halloween party/competition to develop funds. yet it particularly is going to be on Oct. twenty 9th. Bake sales and candy bag sales consistently do particularly nicely in my college. fairly once you sell to the newbies who are not allowed to pass away college for lunch yet.
