my dear...yes, i'm afraid that bible does have contradictions. bible is the first holy book i've read! i understand ur point...
to answer ur question, i KNOW God exists, and sometimes i even say to myself: who am I to say that He exists, when He is actually the Creator of all things, seen and unseen?! for me, the most important thing is thinking about Him and about creation, about nature and all in it and around it... since i have a great interest in astrophysics and things like quantum theory etc., it's amazing to know that everything around us: the leaves, the rocks, live beings, whatever - is just particles of different sorts of vibrations, connected together to form such a fulfilling and complete picture of the world... no one could have done that so perfectly then God Himself, and even in everyday life, u get so many signs and inspiration from His Deed, its truly amazing!
in the search for the truth, a person should not be narrow minded, should not be afraid of the unknown... for me personally, i found truth in Qur'an, which states that all Holy books before (including Bible) are from One God, but the difference is that over time (I personally relate this to the dark period of the Church during the medieval times) the Bible had been changed by humans, by clerics, who tried to make it more justifiable for whatever they had been doing then. but again, all the Holy books do speak of faith, love, friendship, mutual tolerance... those are the universal values which we, unfortunately, lack nowadays, I mean the society in general... I think any person who is truly TRUE to God, no matter what faith or denomination, will do good and avoid bad... so recognizing the existence of God, from whom all Good comes from, is the first condition of faith... and its amazing if u have came to that conclusion, but please dont be afraid to seek the Truth, i know its not an easy journey, but trust me, it is SOOOOOOOOO worth it. I wish u all the best in that journey, and I cordially recommend that u read all for great Holy books! may Peace be upon you! :-)

It is very possible to believe in God but not the bible. There are many people who believe in God but not religion. The ideals that are used in churchs does not always match the original words of the bible, which leads to various denominations such as Lutherans, catholics, Baptists, Mormons, etc. The bible has been changed or altered over the years to be more politically correct, easier to read, or in some cases simply to change the meaning. So I think all is well with you rational and keep your faith in the big guy.

One's Belief would be Shallow Then because the Bible identifies who The Creator or Almighty God is. The Bible is the Instruction Manual On How to gain Eternal life, otherwise one could be calling on " god " and actually be getting Answers from Satan. As Many do.

Of course. There are about 6 billion theists in the world, and only about 2 billion of these claim to be Christians. That's 4 billion people who believe in God but don't believe the Bible.

Religion and beliefs evolve, much like everything else in the world.
You don't need to believe the bible to believe in God. After all, people believed in him before the bible was written.

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God ( 1 John 1 : 1 ). "The grass withereth, the flower fades, but the Word of our God shall stand forever"
( Isaiah 40:8 ). I am not surprised, but still apalled at the number of people that actually believe that you can be a child of God, an inhabiter of heaven, without believing in the Bible. Who cares if you believe in God. The devil and his demons believe in God, and tremble ( James 2:19 ). Belief alone will wind you in hell, but obedience to God's Word is the "only" way we can have hope of heaven. I am sooo tired of people using the weak excuse that the Bible is full of contradictions when the real truth lies in that you do not yet know how to understand / interpret God's Word because you live contrary to it. God does not want your "belief." He wants your heart.

Of course it's possible to believe in God and doubt the Bible. Billions do. And, there are contradictions in the Bible. There are two different versions of the creation story, and they are different. How could they both be true at the same time? The same goes for the first Easter Sunday morning. There are four different versions. They can't all four be true at the same time.
God gave you a brain. Keep on using it.

There is a HUGE difference. The god of the bible is based on man's claims. Believe in god only requires you to be able to observe what man can't claim.

My husband and i are christians and i don't care what anyone says you don't have to believe the bible to believe in God.
We don't take the bible literally. You are right, it does contradict itself.
I take small parts of the bible and do agree with some things but much of it i don't.
This doesn't mean i am not saved or a non believer - by far!

There are more possible gods than there are lifeforms on the face of this planet.
The christian god is one of them.
The Jewish god is one of them.
The islamic god is one of them.
You have another few trillion to pick from that don't involve books at all.
I put aside a little time now and again for Yog Sothoth, Shiva, Thor, Susanoo, David Bowie, Sheogorath, Kaela Mensha Khaine and Quetzacoatl.
