okay so how are we supposed to know the christian god is the right one and that the other gods are false? every religion claims their god is the right one and that the others are false. and dont even bother telling me to read the bible cause other religions have their fair share of holy books as well. So yeah how are we supposed to know?

He doesnt provide us with any proof either or else then why would people need to have faith and not knowledge?

While you will not like the answer, it starts with "read the Bible".

Then also read the other books and compare what they teach. Only by looking at the different ideas and doctrines can you tell which is the correct one. That is kind of like trying to find out the correct history of the Civil War without ever reading any of the histories.

Compare the books. Are they work of a single person (such as the Koran) or a compilation of multiple books by multiple authors (like the Bible). What it not be more likely that one individual who claims to have visions of God might more likely be wrong then dozens of them who have matches vision over hundreds of years? You would have to decide.

Then you want would to look within the text. If ther are multiple books, do they contradict each other? Does one of the author worship multiple gods, and the next only one? Are they consistant in their theology? Does one teaching salvation by "enlightment", and the next teach it by "penance"? You would have to decide.

Look at some defenses of the different faiths. For the Christian faith, an excellent book to read is CS Lewis' "Mere Christianity". A thin book, but it presents a logical and philosophical arguement for Christian without using the scripture as it source. None of the "it is true because the Bible says so". Similar works are avilable for most other religions.

Talk to people who have accepted the religion. See what kind of affect it has had on their lives. What miracles have they experienced? What has their God done to help them?

Finally, if there is a God, then ask him for guidance to him. He can answer for himself also. But it helps to have information (the studying mentioned above) that he can use to give you the guidance.

When you actually start to study religion(s), you will find that God has given all kinds of proof for his existence. But he stills ask that people come by faith first, not knowledge.

It is like we all know that GW Bush is the current president of the US. But that does not mean we all support his policies and decisions. We can "know" that he is the leader, and still not follow. Before we will follow, we have to have "faith" in his leadership. So God ask that people come to him first by placing "faith" in him. We come to him with a heart surrender, ready to listen and follow, and then he can do what he needs to in our lives. He ask for the heart, not the head first. Because if he gets the heart, the head follows. That is not true if he only gets the head.

You don't know. That's why most religions do what they do and mind their own business about it.
But christian people are some of the only ones who go around trying to convert people like they actually know that their religion is right. They will try to spiritually coerce you and scare you saying that you will go to hell if you don't buy into their illogical beliefs of some guy in the sky.
But in the end, they don't know that they're right. No one does. That's why folks should just believe what they believe and leave other people alone.

there is only one God and we have to belive in Him as stated in the bible, it is said there will be others who say they are hIm but there is only one. He will send Jesus down and it is also said there will be many prophets like Him also but as it is stated He will be the only one who comes down on the white cloud and the whole world will see it happen at the same time, figure that one out as it is night some places and day light other places. this is all stated in the bible.

No one can tell you who to worship or what to read, because there are so many different "Holy Scriptures" out there. What I would do is pray, but then who do you pray too? I guess you would have to pray / worship the god that best fits what you need.

Suspicion and skepticism are always welcome for an intelligent person. It is good to be informed as much as you can. So, why not read the bible, the koran, talmud, etc etc and you will be able to have your own conclusions. It's very revealing to know what people around the world believes in :)

Great question btw :)

Sometimes the religious make me wish I was an Atheist! All I can suggest is to look in your heart and don't believe everything people say.

The Bible is the true word of the one and only God. It's as simple as that.
John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; No man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

The wages of sin is death. The gift of God is eternal life.

Confess your sins.
Turn from your sins.
Believe in your heart.
Ask Jesus to save you.

The thing that seperates Christianity from all the other religions is that it's not about how we can get to God, it's how God came to us.

Jesus said to Thomas, "you believe because you have seen. Blessed is he who believes, but has not seen."
I know God exists because I can feel His power in my life.
