They reject the notion of God because it gives them freedom from sexual morality. Plain and simple.

Wanting or not wanting is irrelevant to seeing truth. It is only immature people who believe truth is whatever they want it to be. I am objective and logical, so I go along with whatever the evidence indicates truth to be. I saw many contradictions and scientific errors in the Bible when I was age 7, even though Mom's father was a preacher, so I had to read the Bible every day. All of this reading made me an expert, and I saw many errors in it. I do not accept the Bible's ideas about sin, for too much of that is designed to make people feel guilty about things that are natural and not wrong at all. I enjoy being free of a tyrannical religion that tries to create guilt, so that people will pay priests to relieve it.

When I hear theists assuming atheist are atheists because they love their lives of sin I always wonder what exotic, lustful, sinful behavior I'm supposed to be up to. I can't see my life changing in terms of behavior much or at all if I suddenly believed in God.

I have nothing against some God existing particularly if it were a benevolent and wise God. I don't see this God in the Abrahamic religions though which to me portray an evil tyrannt God so I guess I am glad this type of God doesn't exist.

I personally think it would make life and the universe much less interesting.

And in spite of the second part of your question my opinion had nothing at all to do with sin. Honestly is this the way you think about people who don't believe like you?

Do you believe we sit around wringing our hands and contemplating sin? That is so small minded.

I just think that if there did turn out to be a god the universe would lose all wonder and beauty. Instead of picking up a shell on the beach and thinking how marvelous that this creature formed this way it would just be one more boring plastic creation by somebody who obviously doesn't care about his creations.

I would probably just stay in bed and say who cares we're all just someone's puppet.

Wrong. What sins? Only the religious buy into sin by way of a God who punishes them.

I don't think the concept of "sin" enters into the atheist's thought, actually.
I think their major problem is that they think God ought to fix all the problems we cause for ourselves, BECAUSE of our own sins.
They figure that God ought to make it so that the greedy can be as greedy as they like, but there will never be any such thing as hungry children. They think that folks ought to have any kind of sex any time with anybody of any gender that they feel like, and there should be no such thing as STDs. They don't like it that there are natural disasters, they can't see how a loving God would allow such things.
Basically, they blame all suffering on God...and totally refuse to acknowledge that we might have something to do with it ourselves...and even if we do, God ought to "fix it", rather than let us stew in our own mess.
They don't like it that people die...but then, they can't accept that maybe death is not the end...

Actually,I think it would be cool to have a god,I think it would be cool to see unicorns and elves also.I also understand "wanting"something to be true/false has absolutely no bearing on whether said desire is true/false.I also know by your question you are deeply burdened with guilt,so you let yourself believe a completely ridiculous story about two cosmic bar buddies wagering over your "soul"So that you won't "go to hell"Let go of the guilt, you won't go to hell.I don't know what you refer to as "sinning"If you think it's wrong, don't do it.Why do you need a god to tell you?

I think that is just some, not all, theists view so they can justify their own misgivings about atheists.

If empirical evidence surfaces that shows any of the thousands of named deities world wide is a real entity then so be it; if not, it's not real until proved so. There is no 'want' about it.

If there were a god, I would hope he'd smite everyone who fails to spell "atheist" correctly, and who is incapable of forming the plural of the noun.
