it's not unreasonable to think that once bush is out of the white house stem cell research will become a hot issue again. assuming all of the bans on stem cell research are lifted and assuming scientists can use stem cells to develop cures for many of the diseases which currently have no cure, would you take advantage of any of the new advances in medicine if it meant saving you or a loved one's life?

You know, that is a very good question. I do not believe in abortions as a general rule. I think that life is sacred and that God would not want us aborting life. However, I also believe in free will. Because of this, I believe if a fetus us aborted, God would want us to use that life to save another. In other words, I don't know where I stand on the issue, but I have to believe that God would want us to make good out of something bad. Therefore, if a baby is aborted (bad), God would want us to make something good out of it (finding cures to save lives). That's a tough question. I hope this helps.
Personally, if my wife or child had a deathly illness, I would do whatever is necessary to save them, even if that means using stem cells from an aborted fetus. I don't pretend to not be biased. But it would be arrogant and pretentious of me to say that I would never use stem cells. Who knows, maybe in ten or twenty years a new technology may come around getting rid of the need for stem cells. Who knows.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think scientist have found hundreds of healthy stem cells in newborn babies umbilical cords. Why not use this to do reasearch on? If used ethically, scientist could save many lives and I think God would be okay with that especially if he gave us the intelligence to do so. If a family member needed this new advance to save their life, I would support it.

yes! do people not realize that stem cells can be gathered from placental matter? it does not need to come from aborted fetuses. there are humane ways of gathering the cells. the only issue should be how/from what source the cells are gathered. if they had this technology when i was giving birth, i would have had the stem cells saved at that time...

Of course. People are testing things on Animals and Humans don't seem to mind that. I figure we might as well make the cycle equal. (am I going to get the thumbs down on this answer)
Besides, if my Mother or anyone in my Family needs medicine, I'm willing to give them what they need.

Heck yeah! And I suspect when push came to shove pretty much everybody else would, too! I can't believe any Christian would look down at their suffering mother, sister, or friend, and just let them suffer, even though a doctor was standing next to them with a shot that would cure them. They won't admit it, though, unless they've been through it themselves.

Absolutely - it actually makes me sick that people are opposed to stem cell research.

Absolutely, even those opposed to it, when given a life or death situation of a loved one would choose to save their life. I believe that we were given the wisdom to learn from life and we should use the knowledge given to us.
